So I had the opportunity to stay at this establishment from January 16-March 7, 1024 due to a federal work detail at OPM ROC located in Boyers, PA. So let me break down my review for you- Rooms - initially the room I was given was in a prime location-end of the hall - third floor - quiet. But the door was significantly jarred to where one could see in and out of the room from the lock down to the floor. After speaking with the front desk, maintenance did a temporary repair in hopes that it would sustain for my visit. Unfortunately it did not and I had to move rooms. While still on the 3rd floor, I was on the longer end which was nice until the cheerleaders arrived the weekend of February 10th-11th. Granted the hotel nor staff are to blame for parents being more concerned about being their children’s friends rather than discipline and correction. I felt bad for the staff and the aftermath - way too much glitter and makeup for girls no older than 8-10 yrs old. It screamed JonBenet Ramsey over and over again!!! Service - Outside of the random noise issue, the rooms were kept up well, some days better than others but all in all, not bad. While I was unable to partake in breakfast during the week, it was nice to have a waffle on Saturday and Sunday when the cheerleaders weren’t running around and sneezing all over the food areas. Location - it was in a nice quiet area near SRU which I had never heard of!! The drive into work was about 10-15 mins which was nice. The only downside is there was nowhere to actually cook so it was a lot of eating out which I tried to avoid by shopping at the Giant Eagle near by. But the fridge would either freeze the lettuce or the door would be open sometimes when I returned to my room thereby spoiling items. Of course I can’t place blame on the hotel because I may not have shut it enough or adjusted the temp correctly. But having a place to cook would have been lovely.
But all in all the staff was wonderful. Jarad, Maddie and Ms Carol were absolutely fantastic!!! Jared was always so engaging and professional and thoughtful at all times. He was sometimes my sounding board on my more disappointing days and he listened with a kind heart and compassion for someone who didn’t know me from Adam. All three should be praised for their poise and personalities AND given big time bonuses for handling our 16 person group for two months!!! If you need a spot to chill and reset in Western PA, I would highly recommend Fairfield Inn and Suites Slippery Rock. Make sure to...
Read moreI just got married 9-6-14 at the "White Barn" and used Fairfield Inn for my hotel to shuttle guests to and from on my wedding day to avoid drinking and driving. I found dealing with the room block the most frustrating part of planning my wedding. Maybe it's because the person in charge wasn't a bride herself just yet, I am not sure. But every time I talked to them about my concerns nothing was ever in my favor. I was only able to block off 20 rooms (MIND YOU MY WEDDING HAD 200 GUESTS) these rooms were not located anywhere together.. they were all throughout the hotel. I did not receive anything special JUST the "room block price". The wedding party and immediate family stayed both nights. Guests obviously stayed just that night. My grandmother was supposed to be by my parents room and when she went back early she wasn't able to find her room. My parents found her wondering the halls hours later... (they had put her room on a different floor). I asked the front desk if they could display a 5x7 picture frame with the shuttle information on it for the guests and they acted very hesitate to do so, almost if they were going to get in trouble. They could not accommodate ANY EARLY CHECK INS not even by an hour. My wedding started at 3, shuttle left at 2 and most of the guests had to check in at 11 at night. Also I told them that I was having food for after the wedding for guests (to sober up) they told me "QUIET TIME WAS AT 9PM" And no public gathering after that time was permitted!! First I have ever hear of "quiet time" at a hotel. So all in all... think twice brides. I wish I could have gotten the hotel closer to the venue.. this was second choice. Only bonus was the pool was really nice and so was the hot tub and outside area. The staff that night was nice especially the security guard that let the family gather after "quiet time". Jennifer who I dealt with the entire time was not the best person for the job. I apologize but every time I talked to her she didn't do much to accommodate me. It always seemed as if nothing was ever in my favor and her attitude, her way with words was just not comforting to a bride. In the end I had my wedding planner calling to talk with her so I didn't have to. HOPE THIS...
Read moreI always like to leave positive reviews after staying places. I really can’t say how great this place is because I didn’t enjoy much of the stay. ||It was a rather warm day when we arrived in the afternoon. Entering the room we could tell just how hot the room (and the whole 2nd floor really) was. No AC was on before we got there and turned it on ourselves. It took quite awhile to cool down to a comfortable temperature. ||With the higher price than comparable hotels I would think some modern amenities would be included. It’s rare that you find a hotel that doesn’t have any usb ports to charge your stuff, and this one had none. I had to leave and go buy a wall charger. ||We had to book a suite which had a pull out bed in the couch. I’m pretty sure prisoners get a better mattress than that one. It’s about 2” thick and made out of cheap material. I could feel every spring and every bar of the couch. It’s the most uncomfortable “bed” I’ve ever slept in. The next night we inquired about another option since the pull out was so bad. They gave us a fold up bed and brought it to the room. Of course they charged us $10 for that. Kind of crazy after spending $400 for 2 nights. ||The pool room was so hot I couldn’t stand to be in there for more than 5 minutes with my son. It had to be 100+ degrees. ||Staff was nice, safe location, convenient. I just won’t stay here again or I will second guess any...
