My Family’s Honest Experience Living at The Sync.
Let me start by saying that our apartment was beautiful. The view outside was great, and the location was amazing. 😏 However, living right next door to Publix was both a blessing and a curse. On Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings, starting at 6 a.m. or earlier, you would hear the delivery trucks pulling in and the constant beeping as they pulled out. That part was not fun. We were excited to move in, but our excitement quickly turned to sorrow when my car window was busted and items were stolen just two days after we moved in. I notified the office and received the usual speech from Dana (the manager) that crime can happen anywhere. I suggested they put cameras in the garage to monitor it, but I was told it would be too expensive. Bottom line: nothing was done.
Another thing that was not fun was the fact that, on top of our rent, we paid for sewer, water, gas, trash, pest control, a residential fee, and a convergent fee on a monthly basis. So, for a 3-bedroom apartment, we were paying $3,000 per month. This was quite ridiculous, considering we were sharing walls with others. Not to mention, the neighbors upstairs were unbearably loud, and the fire alarm would go off sporadically, sometimes in the middle of the night. Having to get up and go outside in the middle of the night until the fire department arrived, investigated, and turned off the alarm was diabolical. On top of that, The Sync used to supply the specialty lightbulbs for the kitchen and bathroom, but they passed that responsibility to the residents, so we had to buy our own.
The craziest part about living at The Sync is that we lived there for 4 years, and despite always paying our rent early or on time, never once being late, they still raised the rent every year. You get nothing for being a loyal resident. Even crazier is the fact that you have no choice but to pay for trash valet, but sometimes our garbage wouldn't get picked up, and there would be no explanation as to why. With trash valet, you have to put your trash can out by 8 p.m. and have it back inside by 8 a.m. If your trash can is out after 8 a.m., you are charged $50 per occurrence. To ensure they collect as much money as possible, Julitza (a leasing agent) will walk the halls looking for trash violations and take pictures. She even digs through nasty garbage looking for something with your name on it to use as proof. I reached out to the office on several occasions to ask why, when they don’t pick up the trash as agreed, we don't receive any refunds. But if we make a mistake and leave the trash can out past 8 a.m., they demand their $50. Both Julitza and Dana refused to answer, and I understood why—it’s because they had no answer for that stupidity. It was simply about greed.
They were so greedy for money that when we moved out, they wanted the car sticker they gave us 4 years ago—the same sticker they no longer use because they have a new parking system. Failure to return the useless sticker would cost us $150 per sticker, and we had 3 cars. Fortunately, we never removed the stickers and were able to peel them off in pieces to return them. Overall, our neighbors were nice, but Julitza and Dana were not the best when it came to communication and customer service. Everything with them seemed to be about how much money they could get out of you. I’m guessing for the sake of their jobs they were doing as they were told to do by upper management.
Everyone needs a place to live, but unless you want to be nickeled and dimed, I would steer clear of this place. The gate is always broken, there’s no security in the garage, and cars are always getting broken into. The door to enter your apartment from the garage is always left open because it doesn’t close properly. The entry hallways are always filthy, and despite complaining, nothing was done the entire 4 years I...
Read moreIf I could leave ZERO stars I would. This has been the worst apartment living experience I've ever had. Don't be fooled by the positive reviews here. The office staff is rude and condescending and DOES NOT CARE about real problems. Very friendly when they want you to sign a lease but once you're a tenant everything changes. Consistent with another comment here I have been complaining about a problem with no attempt at a solution. There has been a vibration/machine noise in the master bedroom for months that wakes me up constantly through the night. It has gotten so bad that the entire room is vibrating now. I put in a maintenance request and attached sound samples MONTHS AGO. I have been REPEATEDLY and CONSISTENTLY complaining about it but since they don't want to DISRESPECT the maintenance staff and send them during the night while the noise can clearly be heard they are telling me to BUY A WHITE NOISE MACHINE!! ARE YOU KIDDING ME? WHAT KIND OF SORRY UNPROFESSIONAL APARTMENT STAFF WOULD GIVE SILLY ADVICE LIKE THIS? I PAY A FORTUNE EACH MONTH FOR A CRACKER BOX APARTMENT AND THEY DON'T WANT TO DISRESPECT THE MAINTENANCE STAFF?????? SO DISRESPECT THE RENT PAYING TENANT INSTEAD? Anyone with any level of common sense can see that placing four HUGE HVAC UNITS above an apartment was a bad idea. Cera knows this unless she's just not very intelligent but then again Cera is the most unprofessional uncaring staff member you will ever have the displeasure of having to work with. ABSOLUTELY ZERO CUSTOMER SERVICE SKILLS. Cera's advice to buy a white noise machine basically says it's your problem, not ours. Nothing but one problem after the next. By the way if you love a malfunctioning blaring alarm system that constantly goes off during the night and has your kids waking up screaming then this place will make you very happy. Contacting Wood Reisdential/Wood Partners and advising them about the people they hire to represent them.
In follow up to the reply that Alta posted to my previous review. Despite the fact that so-called outside "specialized" contractors have inspected the units NO ONE has bothered to come and listen for themselves. There is still a major problem in my apartment. It’s 2:00 a.m. and I am wide awake listening to it. Not one single contractor has been in my apartment to observe the noise. How can you solve a problem without observing the problem??? I contacted 2 companies hoping they could give some advice. Both said it could be the fan in the attic but without actually coming out to my apartment they couldn’t give a definite answer. Why would anyone take valuable time out of their lives to repeatedly complain about an ongoing problem if there wasn't one?? SOMETHING is being overlooked and the problem will never be solved if no one bothers to come and listen to it while it occurs. Whether it's an HVAC unit, an attic fan system or some other piece of equipment there is a SIGNIFICANT vibration noise in the master bedroom of this unit. You can hear it through every wall. It's truly sad that a tenant has to resort to leaving a public review as a means to communicate with an otherwise uninterested leasing office. Still waiting for...
Read moreMy co worker gave me a tour of the apt complex and I thought this would be a nice place to live. Our living experiences have been completely different here unfortunately. I've had 3 major issues with this complex. First, is the fact that there's always something broken in this community. And I guess it should be fine considering nothing last forever but when I think about my other issues with this place I can't look past this and think some type of compensation should be given when residents pay so much money to live here. My next two issues coincide with one another. I've lived in Savannah, Marietta, Kennesaw, and in Smyrna in apt complexes, and always on the very top floor. So this means there's always been someone living below me. Not once have I ever received a noise complaint. Why? BECAUSE I DONT MAKE UNNECESSARY OR OBNOXIOUS NOISE. So noise complaints and dormitory living are my next issues. If you loved the feeling of being on lock down with college dorm rules, this is the place for you. Since living here I have received two email noise complaints, multiple in person complaints saying my downstairs neighbor are constantly hearing noise from me, and a police officer sent to my residence. Quiet hrs are from 10pm to 7 am. Great, completely understandable. However, if I'm not in bed when my downstairs neighbor is in bed, I receive a complaint simply by walking around the apt that I PAY FOR. Why? Because the walls floors/ceilings are super thin. If you walk through the breeze way and someone is standing in their kitchen you can hear their whole conversation. At this point this is harassment. I have been threatened of possible termination of my lease for consistent noise complaints when I'm simple minding my business and doing completely normal and quiet things in my apt. It would be accurate if I was throwing parties and having ppl constantly trample around my apt or even blasting loud music. God forbid I wake up to go to the bathroom more than once in a single night....noise complaint. Anyways back to the dormitory living. If one person goes against the rules, consequences are instilled for all. Someone had an unauthorized pool party and management change the pool hours for all changing closing time from 10pm to 5pm/6pm. I simple cannot with this place. You can do no wrong in this place without a consequence yet things can be broken for weeks/months and no compensation comes from management. I had no idea this is type of environment I was getting myself into. Staff in the office are nice they'll smile in you face and send all type of violation/consequential emails after. I cannot...
