Atlanta Day 12 | The Grass is Greener Outside the City

The best adjective I can use to describe Zucca Bar & Pizzeria would be AwesomeMazingTacular! Yes… That is my word! My afternoon started with getting Ice Cream for Friend Day. After a few hours, was time for dinner. I searched Yelp and landed on Zucca Bar & Pizzeria. As I had never been, I was excited as always to try somewhere new. Upon driving up to the location, I was taken by the beautiful scenery of the town center itself. The classic design aesthetic captures you and draws your mind to a place of peace and pure enjoyment. I was able to find parking quickly and headed to Zucca Bar & Pizzeria. Upon walking in, we were greeted by the young man at the host stand. He welcomed us in and advised us that they were currently only serving the late-night menu. To be fair, it was after 10 pm, so I was fine with that. LoL! Once he greeted us, he provided us with the menus and told us we could sit at the bar or anywhere we would like. As such, we decided to sit in a booth. Within moments of sitting down, we were greeted by Joe (I believe that was his name). He introduced himself and let us know that he and the other person on the floor would be assisting us. With that, he took our drink order and gave us time to review the menu. Though the late-night is minimal, there are still quite a few options so don’t be discouraged from doing a late-night visit. I decided to get the: Buffalo Chicken Sandwich (Fried) grilled or fried chicken tossed in tavern buffalo sauce, cheddar cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion Ooh! When I say FRESH… I mean FRESHHHHHHHHHH!!!! The chicken was juicy and fried to perfection. The sauce-to-chicken ratio was spot on, and the fixings were very very fresh. The fixings were so fresh that they enhanced every single bite of the sandwich. Furthermore, the hoagie roll that it comes on is soooooooooooo good. I’m talking about fresh out the over type of fresh baked good. I got the sandwich with a side of tater tots and without me having to even say anything, guess what… They were golden crisp and fried to perfection as well with a crispy outside and soft center. Whew! This was def a late-night meal for the books. Oh yeah, and the Sweet Tea… You know I love me a Sweet Tea! It was the bombbbbbbbbbb… Sweet, Fresh, and great brew to sugar ratio. The service provided by all of the staff was amazing. The restaurant was super clean, very spacious with indoor and outdoor seating, and whoever had control of the playlist was not playing any games. I’m talking hit after hit of good song selections. In case you can’t tell… I’ll be back VERY Soon. LoL!!!!

This place is generally delicious. Each day - all seven of them - they feature a different pizza of the day. And the featured pizzas are quite a bit less expensive than their normal prices. When I went it was the Supreme, which was quite the unhealthy choice. I got the large - 18" - with the intention of taking half of it home for breakfast the next morning. Pizza always tastes better when the flavors mix overnight. Amiright? Anyway, the pizza only cost me $18, which is a great price for a pizza like this. I think the normal prices for that pizza is somewhere around $25. And yes, I ate the whole thing while I watched whatever game they had on. I didn't eat a thing the whole next day. Although good, it was a little salty for my taste with the all the pepperoni, sausage, and olives. I've had the white pizza, which I really like, the chicken parmesan pizza, and the pepperoni pizza, which are all good. My only criticism is that I'd prefer my pizzas be served piping hot, when the cheese is really melty. They tend to come out very warm, not hot hot. Maybe they do that to try to avoid lawsuits. I've never asked. I've also had other dishes there, like the linguine with clams in white wine butter sauce. Delicious, but you have to be wary of the sauce splashing on your shirt, which is why I usually ahy away from long pasta when eating out. Zucca also has a pretty good beer and wine selection. I'm not sure, but I think they rotate the beers they have on tap. If you like mixed drinks, they give a good pour. Nothing to complain about there. The prices are reasonable. Dining out is no longer inexpensive, even at moderately-priced restaurants. They use quality ingredients, so you have to expect to pay more. Each table has its own TV, so you can watch the game you want to watch or put something on the TV that will occupy your kids after they eat (if they aren't already mesmerized by their phone or whatever else they play their games on). To sum it up, if you've never been there, check it out. Who doesn't like really good Italian food?

WILL NEVER ORDER AGAIN! HORRIBLE SERVICE AND MANAGER! (MARK) I have ordered from here plenty of times and tonight we decided to come in for take out. We decided to try another flavor, the Brooklyn w/ Pepperoni and some wings. Its been an exhausting day and all I wanted was a slice of pizza, or so I thought! Me being from New York when you say Brooklyn style you think a thin large slice with cheese. When we got home we opened up a round pizza cut up in squares? To those who eat pizza in squares thats your preference I guess. I want my pizza in slices so I can enjoy the crust. So I called Zucca's to see why its in squares and I was told that's how it came. So they put manager Mark on the phone who told me the pizza is squared and cut into squares. I told him our pizza we got was round and in squares, I also reminded him that the menu ONLY specifies the ingredients not how the pizza is shaped and cut, If it did we would have chosen differently. Then he told me there's nothing he could do. WOW!, nothing the could do about their mistake? How about a some apology for the confusion and he could have offered to replace it and I would have gladly brought back the one we have with the assumption it was round since it DID NOT specify otherwise! But NOTHING is exactly what they did! Horrible service. Lost a customer today and a few other all my family members in the area support each other and our reviews on good service and food! All I wanted was to enjoy what I thought I was paying for after working all day and now it will go to waste. Honestly I lost my appetite not only because its not what I wanted but the horrible service behind it! We will all take our...
