Is there a restaurant where the people frown and hate their jobs more than here? Maybe the Cheesecake Factory at Cumberland Mall, but I'm hard-pressed to think of any others. It's depressing. Lots of potential. The food is OK. The people are similar quality to what you would find at an average interstate McDonalds. Confusing.
FOOD SAFETY ISSUE: I saw the bartender who just handled the cash register grab sliced limes out of a bucket with her bare hands, and fix it on a margarita glass. No tongs. No hand washing after handling money.
The date was Saturday 2/11. Time 4pm. Heavy set lady with her hair in a bun, terrible dismissive scowl on her face. She should be grateful that she has a job, with that kind of performance.
I came to pick up a to go order and the food was ready in the back, getting colder by the minute. Meanwhile she told me to wait, and she served 4-5 drinks to dine in guests before grabbing my already prepared food from the back. Completely unnecessary. I asked her if food was still cooking and she said "no it's ready to be bagged."
Apparently because she doesn't get tipped often by carry out guests, her way to handle it is to make the restaurant look bad by serving their OK food ... cold.
The unsettling part is that this is not the first time I have experienced this kind of aloof dismissive and inattentive behavior from depressing people in this underachieving restaurant.
Looking forward to this restaurant going out of business, and for a new player to take over and restore quality back to this high...
Read morePrior to coming here, my friends were raving about this taco place saying the tacos were amazing and that it's always packed. They're weekly patrons to Corner Taqueria. I didn't get it though. When we went, it was mostly empty on a weekend night. I could see how the restaurant would be a great social place to grab some friends for some reasonably priced food and drinks. I really wanted to like this place, but there were too many dings on my experience for me to give more than a 3 star. The tequila barrel bar tables outside were a nice touch to the casual atmosphere. My friends and I sat in the indoor/outdoor patio area and enjoyed the peacefulness of Smyrna Market Village. It took a while for our server to get out to us. When she did come, she was not pleasant. It was clear she was having a rough day and didn't want to be working. I got the buffalo chicken salad which I wouldn't recommend. My food came in clearly as an after thought. All my friends had gotten their food and had mostly finished their food by the time I got my food. Keep in mind that some of them got the buffalo chicken taco. The buffalo chicken salad was nothing special. The chicken was overcooked. The sauce tasted like something out of a bottle. The fixings were fairly standard. Prices weren't terrible, but for all the hype from my friends, I was expecting something that actually tasted good. Final verdict: I wouldn't recommend it, but would go if my friends really wanted to go here. Allot a good bit of time cause service...
Read moreNice looking menu. While outside reading it and deciding if the options were good for our kids the hostess came outside and told us to move along (VERY rudely). We're early 40s, professionals with 2 children. The outside menu is placed immediately behind a table. Such that you have to awkwardly wedge behind the table and shift the umbrella up to read it. We let our kids sit while discussing the menu. At 5pm Saturday with no other outside customers and near zero foot traffic (they weren't busy). We were about to enter and she came out, placed a little table sign on the table and simply said "this table is for customers only" and abruptly walked back inside. Background, we'd been there for about 2 minutes. I, a non-confrontational (Canadian) person, immediately triggered by this clear aggression said "well, I guess we won't be customers then." .... I'm boiled by her handling of the situation. A minute later I opened the door and told her "maybe don't put a table in front of the menu then?!" and we moved on to a delicious Lebanese restaurant 10 minutes away instead. Either the management that put her up to this, or she needs a lesson in restaurant management. ... "Hi! Anything you're interested in?" ... Done. We would've dined as it seemed we had options our kids would eat. (PS: we're 100% not a group that this could be a racist response, though it sounds like it might be. She was just plain...
