Cafe Lucia — Restaurant in Smyrna

Tried this place on a whim. Saw the rating but didn’t read the reviews so I was definitely not expecting what I got. First, my friend & I both received the wrong order after waiting quite a bit of time. Once we informed them, we did finally receive our correct orders but my friend was then brought a duplicate order which they took back after realizing. I’m assuming this was a result of us having the wrong initial orders? Idk but I ordered the classic cheese & egg croissant. The order they brought me was French toast lol. See photos. Before beginning to eat, my friend’s plate had a gnat or some similar type of bug crawling on the edge of the plate. I don’t know if this was from the strawberries or what, but unfortunately I did not snap a photo. Just take my word for it. Trust me. So we took the plate back & then we received what appeared to be the prior plate?? The duplicate order as replacement lol. So was the plate just sitting there?? Anyhow, the experience was pretty bad from start to finish. My food wasn’t terrible but certainly not enough to return. Maybe this place is best for coffee? My chai latte was very sweet. I was excited to try Cafe Lucia as a new customer, especially with my daughter enrolled next door at The Bunny Hive. I walked in about 15 minutes before her class, hoping to grab a quick bite while she played. The place was empty, so I asked how long bacon would take. I was told 5–10 minutes, so I settled for a smoothie instead.

That’s where things went downhill. After pouring the ingredients into the blender, the staff member just walked away ,didn’t start the smoothie, didn’t say anything and began helping a DoorDash driver instead. I understand everyone is a customer, but why not multitask? Start the smoothie, let it blend while assisting the driver, then finish mine. It would’ve taken seconds.

Instead, I stood there watching my one simple item sit, unfinished. When the cook eventually came out, I asked for a refund. She didn’t offer to make the smoothie even though it was literally ready to go. I left without breakfast, frustrated, and now late.

It was such a careless experience. I won’t be back. There are too many other places that value your time...

I came in and ordered some iced drinks and a grilled cheese sandwhich. The young lady took my order and said it would be about 10-15 minutes on the sandwhich. There were no other customers so they didn't have much to do so they were all on their phones sitting on the counters. I didn't mind, I know how it is when you're young and bored at work. I waited and waited and after about 20 minutes, I asked the young lady about my order and she said, "what order?" I told her I was waiting on a sandwhich and they all turned and looked at each other. They forgot and said it would be 10-15 minutes for the sandwhich. I was upset but didn't make a big deal about it and asked for a refund. The girl didn't even apologize and proceeded to give me my money back. I like this place, but the lack of urgency and customer service will keep me from coming back.

Not to mention, in the 20-25 minutes that I waited for the sandwhich, I was looking around and the place is pretty dirty. Dust balls(bunnies) and dirt all over the floors. An adult needs to come in and make changes...
