After years of making my way up to the BFAC's Vernon Street studio for the excellent figure drawing and painting sessions, I was excited to see the BFAC open up a new studio this year in Union Square. It's more convenient to my walking and bicycling route from Central Square, and it offers lots of expanded programming, including (for a modest monthly registration fee) 12-hour daily access to the spacious studio (where I can practice still-life drawing and painting) and a few scheduled figure drawing sessions. I'm currently a "standard" member, but may splurge on full membership before long. I love what Damon and his eager crew of studio programmers are trying to do with this new space --namely, turn it into kind of atelier, a gestation station...

Last year, while perusing activities on Meetup, I discovered a figure drawing session at the BFAC. The session was amazingly better than the live model sessions I remembered from college. It was an evening of dynamic poses and enthusiastic artists, both novice and experienced. The atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming.
