Zero stars would definitely be chosen if it were an option.
So, Saturday night my iPhone was stolen. I spent the past two days following it on findmyiphone with little success. Finally yesterday findmyiphone was reporting that it was located at 29 union square otherwise known as Boston Mobile iPhone Repairs. By the time I was able to get there, they had closed. This morning I headed over around 9:30 which I noted was the opening time.
When I got there I was let in by a nice gentleman who runs the adjacent coffee store (in the same building) and he let me use his phone to call the owner of Boston Mobile Repairs seeing as no one was yet there. I explained to him my situation and that I believed my cellphone was stolen and someone had brought it there the previous day since they advertise outside the shop that they "unlock iPhones." He continuously reassured me that they do not work on any phones that appear to be stolen or reported as lost as it is against their values. He also told me if the phone had been lost for more than a day or two I should just give up and buy a new one.
While on the phone with the owner another customer came in hoping to pick up a repaired phone. I politely put him on the phone with the owner who explained that contrary to what this gentleman thought they were closed on Mondays and he would have to pick up his phone the following day. So, now this other customer explains he can see his phone on the other side of the counter, he decides after ending the phone call with the owner that he is going to take matters into his own hands and get his cellphone. While behind the counter retrieving his cellphone I ask him to see if there is anything resembling my phone. IMPORTANT: He finds my cellphone on the workbench completely disassembled. I instantly called the owner back explaining that I saw my stolen cellphone which should never have been accepted according to what he said and that he needs to come into the shop immediately to repair and return my phone or I would call the police.
He immediately rushed to the store to put my phone back together and explained that it must have been a new employee who he just hired which did not realize that they did not work on lost or stolen items......YEAHHHH OKAYYYY nice try buddy. You run a shiesty business and I will definitely never be returning to this cellphone chop-shop. Not that I ever wanted to in the first place. - do not bring your...
Read moreI smashed the screen of my new Pixel about two weeks into owning it. Devastated, I called around trying to see how much it would cost to fix. I have a Pixel 5 that costs $300 (as it is quite outdated) and was unwilling to spend above a certain price point to fix just the screen.
Valentino came in at a great price and right down the block from me. I dropped off my phone and was told to come back in an hour. One hour later I had my phone in hand with a new screen. It functioned pretty well. I will say this first screen was less sensitive than the original screen. It worked well enough though and I was happy. Later that week though, I discovered that the audio earpiece didn't work anymore.
I returned to Valentino less than a week later and explained my problems. He was super gracious and took on my phone straight away. He tried to see if he could fix it with the current screen but the screen itself was no good. That same day, Valentino ordered me a new screen and promised to contact me when it came in.
About four days later, I brought my phone in again and he replaced it with the new new screen in an hour. None of this was additional cost to me, he never even suggested it.
My new new screen works phenomenally. Everything is aligned, it is super responsive, and really good as new. While I am very happy with Valentino's repair skills, I am more impressed with his customer service. He immediately went to fix the problem without hesitation. While, honestly, it was annoying to go there three times, he made it as easy as possible. I can't fault the guy for a faulty part, especially when he was so so good about fixing it.
I highly recommend this shop for fixing any screens you have. Valentino is honest, hardworking, and delivers a great product. He stands by the warranty offered by the shop on any phones or repairs, as evidenced. He also has a bunch of refurbished electronics (monitors, phones, etc.) and phone accessories for sale. If you're in the area, I really recommend Boston Mobile...
Read moreMy phone suddenly won't charge anymore, so I visit this place to fix the issue. I describe the problem and hand the person my phone and my charger. He looks closely at the charging port and decides the issue is there, and tells me it's ~$130 for a replacement (90$ of which are service charge), and to come back in 30 minutes. Expensive, but it's a Sunday and they promised fast service - and sure enough, in 30 minutes the person hooks my phone to their charger and shows me I'm all set.
I go back home, connect my charger - no luck! It's not charging. I head back to the place and describe the problem again, and fumbled in my pocket to give them my phone and charger. I pull out my backup phone by mistake, which has a broken screen. The employee sneers "are all your phones broken?". I ignore the comment. He takes a look at my charger, and demonstrates that there is an issue with my charger cable, and replacing it costs $15. So when my phone stopped charging, the issue was obviously an issue with the $15 charger cable - not with the $130 port. I asked the employee to confirm this, but they said that the issue is with both the charging port AND the charging cable - in other words he is convinced that both the charging port and the charging cable stopped working simultaneously.
TL;DR Fast service that's open on Sunday, but there is a chance you will make multiple trips, deal with unprofessional remarks from the employee, and pay ~$145 for a $15 issue that they could not diagnose the first time
EDIT: I have no conflict of interest with this business or with any employee who works here - it's strange that the owner's response accuses me of misrepresenting the facts (this also speaks to their professionalism). I am not even upset about the service, which was indeed fast and solved my issue. Rather, I wrote this review to let other clients know about my experience, and to encourage this business to be more transparent and communicate more openly than...
