Maprang Bakery & Cafe — Restaurant in Somerville

Absolutely perfect in every way. They happily accommodated a catering order, working with me to get everything just right. They even let me do a large carry-out carton of Vietnamese iced coffee, which I expected to only be able to order individually. When I picked up my order they were so friendly and helpful; they helped me load it into the car and even made me an extra green tea latte! I only briefly saw the interior, but it was adorable and seemed like a great place to chill or meet someone.

The desserts were a HUGE hit, there was nothing left by the end of my event. We got the basque cheesecake, green tea and red bean cake, Thai tea cake, coconut chiffon, and Oreo balls (which were shaped like adorable mouse heads!!! 🥹🥹🥹). I can’t express how beautifully presented everything was; I wish I got a photo before everything was devoured but I didn’t have time.

Of the desserts, I only got to try the coconut chiffon, but it was transcendent. And the green tea latte was the best I’ve ever had, and not super sweet. They seriously elevated my event to the next level (or 3), and I will 100% order catering from them in the future. I want Maprang to make every dessert I have for the rest...

I’m so happy I found this place. It is a beautiful café ! I got a huge cinnamon roll and I think it has orange zest, it was delicious. They also have customer parking behind the building. It’s open from 8:00 AM until 6:00 PM which is great considering all the other cafés around this area are closed by 4. So after you finish your working hours, it’s a very nice stop for a refreshing iced tea or any of the other amazing things they have. I’m looking forward to come back here and try all the other delicious things they have. They are closed on Wednesdays.

Lastly, every purchase comes with a smile 😊 they are very nice and friendly owners.

Update: I'm a regular now! this is my favorite cafe in Union Square area/Somerville. I'm coming back every week. Also, you should try the hot chocolate, Mocha Latte, and the Green Apple Cold tea...

This is the kind of place where it’s hard to make a wrong choice. If it looks good, chances are it will taste fresh and as good as you could imagine!

Food: I’ve visited a couple time now and I think I’ve ordered something different each time. Sometimes at stores you find one or two items you like and don’t sway, but Maprang makes me want to try everyone on the menu. Each drink has been very distinct but they all make for a great start to your day! The pastries and cakes also make for great accompaniments without tipping the scales toward overloading on sugar.

Atmosphere: As I mentioned earlier, Maprang makes me want to try new things each time and I think it’s partly due to the fresh and energetic atmosphere.

Service: The staff are always so pleasant and excited to have you try new menu items or classic pastries...
