The Bear's Den — Local services in South Lake Tahoe

I'm a local Eldorado county resident and have always wanted a bear from the Bears Den. So my wife and I stopped by this week to buy a bear carving. We looked around and found a bear we liked, but it didn't have a price. I asked the man working at the back of the building if he could help us. I ask him what the price was for the bear he first said $540.00 a couple of seconds later he said $495.00 so I thought we could dicker on the price so I asked if he would take $300.00. At that point he walk away from us then stopped came back an said "Get out of here go get in your car and go". So we left. I will never go back and would never recommend this business to anyone. I was looking all over for a wooden welcome sign bear and these ones are bar far the best I could find. I live across the country from thier store and they were kind enough to listen to my wants and sent me pictures via text message of bears that I could pick from. They packed and shipped the bear the next day too. All around a wonderful experience with some friendly people and the cherry on top was the quality and workmanship of these wooden bears (they have all kinds of different animals). Been a local since 1990 and stopped by during the height of the pandemic. Customer service was poor, I didn’t feel welcomed and neither did my parents. It’s simply not ok to judge customers at the door by assuming they won’t be able to purchase something or don’t have a right to browse. The selection is amazing and my family and I fell in love with the rocking chair on display.
