They teach only the very basics. There is an entire five week class on heat pumps, however the only type of heat pumps that you study our air source. You do not work on any type of mini splits or even talk about geothermal. Up until recently before heat pumps was added you wouldn't get up to 2300 dollars back from your financial aid for books tools and whatever else. Since the addition of heat pumps a class you learn nearly nothing in, even after your financial aid and grants you will still end up owing close to $1000. and what they won't tell you is that you will not receive your certificate until after you pay the money that is left over. I just graduated and received a letter by mail from someone claiming to be a debt collector with the name of the school on the letterhead telling me that they would not release my certificate until after I pay the money. when I was in my first class the director came to us and said that people from their accrediting agency we're going to be coming in the following week and every student showed up in class would be rewarded with a healthy meal. if you want to learn the basics and only the basics go here, if you think you can find somewhere else to get a better education for $17,000 please by all means do it don't waste your time...
Read moreCurrently a student here and not too impressed. Most of the instructors seem to care, but some need to go. If you show up to class then you should have no problems passing the course, but don’t assume you’ll be proficient in the subject after the class. Example, you’d think that after a 5-week electrical class that you’d be proficient enough to change electrical outlets in your home, you won’t unless you have some prior mechanical application experience. For the price of this school, I’d recommend looking into community colleges for fraction of the cost. I know the sales reps will give you the, “Well we’ve been here for this many years, so we must be doing something right.” 🙄 If it wasn’t for students with state funding or GI Bill, I would have a hard time believing this place with stay a float. Also, with the few individuals I have came across in the HVAC field all have had the same negative feelings about this school. It’s not all bad, but just keep your expectations low. That’s a lot to ask for the price this place asks for...
Read more2, 20 minute breaks in a 4 hour period. The info is stretched thin to make sure that the class lasts as long as physically possible. Unfortunately the class goes at the pace of the slowest learner which doesn’t motivate individuals to learn at their own pace. There have been many times where I’m ahead of the class on the lab work and I’m told to take an extra 15 minute ON TOP of the 20 minute breaks. All while you’re sitting there scratching your head wondering what education you’re paying for. Also they don’t provide books anymore as of this year so I had to go out of my way and figure out what book the teacher is pulling all the info from only to find out in the next class you take there’s a completely different book for all the slides that you weren’t informed of. All in all my experience at this place has been sub par. -$18,000 out of pocket because I filed my taxes last year. I should’ve just been a bum for a year and I would’ve gotten around $10,000 from the...
