Dear Ms. Bryant
Tuesday, November 18, 2019 after working a 12 hour shift at a hospital caring for patients, I went to Zoup for dinner. When I walked into the establishment at 8:15 pm, I was greeted immediately by the cashier, Shawn A., I appreciated his enthusiasm. Then I walked over to my left so that I could place my soup order and I said to the woman who I come to know is Arianna and said with a smile. “Hi, how are you?” She looked up at me and looked back down and said nothing. I then said “wow that was really rude.” The same cashier who initially greeted me looked at the exchange and said “I can take your order right over here.” Still stunned by what just occurred I knew I didn’t want to leave Zoup because I just came from Midtown Detroit and had to still drive back to Detroit to go home. I still placed my order and the cashier was kind the entire time. But I was so humiliated and felt disrespected by Arianna. I didn’t cause a scene because that’s not the type of person I am, and I’m not writing this because I want my $9 back. I’m writing this because it’s sad that you all have some employees who don’t value your business enough to even respect customers. Working in healthcare, I even am understanding if someone can’t speak, but there was no reason for this woman to be rude to me and not greet me. A simple smile would have even been sufficient. I watched her work the entire 7 minutes I was in the restaurant to confirm if she wasn’t able to speak and another employee came out and Arianna said something to her, so I knew it wasn’t any sort of barrier regarding why she couldn’t speak to me. After I received my order, I asked for the store manager’s name and the name of the rude employee. I just wanted to pass this message along because my entire family frequents this location a lot and my mother works in Southfield. She too has had issues with rude employees there. The food is great but it can be overshadowed by rude employees. That’s the reason for my one...
Read moreI placed a DoorDash order for chicken pot pie soup. Unfortunately, there was no place for me to add pie crust to the order. I called and explained to the store that DoorDash did not allow me to add extra pie crust and I wanted to know if there was any way for me to add them to my order. I was greeted by a manager named Tawanna with a VERY unfriendly disposition who explained to me that I would have to pay for extra pie crust. I explained to her that I didn’t mind paying for it and she explained to me that there was no way for her to add it to my order for me. She recommended that I place another order on DoorDash if I wanted extra pie crust. I explained to her that her suggested solution wouldn’t solve my issue because door dash does not have pie crust as an option. She raised her voice and explained again that I would have to pay an extra 53 cent for pie crust and then said, “well I don’t know what you want me to do”.
I understand the policy, however her delivery was VERY rude and confrontational. In customer service, problem solving should be a required skill, especially as a manager. Instead of attempting to find a viable solution, Tawanna tried to turn the situation into a confrontational dispute. I never raised my voice at her, and I remained respectful. However, she still hung up on me.
I am a pregnant woman, also dealing with other major health issues. I cannot afford to be stressed right now. I certainly didn’t think calling a restaurant to ask for help solving an issue I didn’t create would warrant being yelled at or put me in a position of threatening my health by causing undue stress. I hope that Zoup values its image enough to correct the poor customer service being provided by...
Read moreThere has not been a time when we have gone to this restaurant, and not been pleased with the menu options. Whenever, you don’t know what to eat for lunch and/or dinner, and you are tired of eating the same things, then a nice cup of soup from Zoup! will always full the stomach, and please your taste palette. (Customer Service) is always professional, is courteous, and helpful. I’ve never been disappointed when I’m making this option. especially, since full prices are so high and unfortunately, it seems like the higher cost always fall on the consumer. It’s refreshing to be able to go to a restaurant purchasing meal that’s pleasing, and at the same time you’re satisfied with having made that investment. There are numerous restaurants out here that will never get another damn dime out of me. Whether, it’s because of poor customer service, or the quality of food is not that great, or the newest thing now is as they’re inflating their prices, They’re literally decreasing the portions that they once to use to give/offer. So now we’re not only paying more for the cost of the same foods that we typically buy when we eat out, but now some of these restaurants are giving you less than what they normally served while charging the customers more! I’m personally just tired of it! So, when my family does eat out, it is well thought out, and we try to choose places that we know, where we’re not only gonna enjoy the food, but we know that we’re going to get good customer service, and decent food...
