I wish I did not need to leave a 1-star review, especially in the midst of all of these 5-star reviews I read on here. But, I can only share MY experience. Visited Golden Castle on Saturday, 8/19 after 2PM. Came in with my other half to inquire about having several pieces of jewelry cleaned… 6 rings, 1 bracelet, 2 necklaces and a pair of earrings. The woman who waited on us told us that they have professional cleaning available where each piece will be cleaned and hand-polished to look like brand new - at a cost of $200 for each piece. That was not what I was looking for, so I said that we would pass on that option. Her response to me was “cheap, cheap…”
Now, maybe she was trying to be funny… I really don’t know. It was delivered with a degree of sarcasm and facial expression, so I think it had plenty of seriousness behind it. But, I just don’t know for sure.
That being said, it was a comment - made in front of my other half being on my arm - that didn’t need to be said. Especially in a retail environment.
She then said they could steam clean them while we wait. I said that sounds good to me. Gave her all the above items - and was handed them back 90 seconds later. Every item still dirty… Visibly still dirty. Not because they weren’t polished - that’s not what the issue is. I’ve used steam to clean. It obliterates dirt… so to get all the items back with 90 seconds and they are still dirty? We were just getting pushed back out of the store, it’s really just simply that…
Unfortunately for Golden Castle, they lost a customer. Because I purchased an $850 gold crucifix necklace from them not all that long ago - for the woman on my arm. And I am soon to be ring shopping. But Golden Castle will not be a place I visit any longer.
Their competition in Sparta will be getting my business...
Read moreI hate shopping for my wife for Christmas. This past year she at least gave some ideas of what she wanted, an eternity or a blue sapphire ring. I visited 4 to 5 jewelry stores and ended up at Golden Castle Jewelry. They had the best selection of rings and made the process painless. Ilana indicated if we had any issues with the ring they would take care of it. My wife loved the ring but it ended up being too small (I didn’t know her ring size). A couple of days later we brought the ring back to get it resized. While there they offered to clean my wife’s engagement ring. During the process they noticed 2 of the 5 prongs were no longer effective and she could easily lose the diamond. We looked at the ring through a loop and saw exactly what they were talking about. They were willing to fix it but for years my wife talked about incorporating her grandmother’s diamonds into her ring. We sat down with Ilana and we came up with a custom design. The original eternity ring I purchased for Christmas did not work with he new design. Ilana was very accommodating and exchanged the ring with one that was a better fit. She walked us through the process of making the custom ring and set expectations on deliverables. We were surprised how quickly they were able to turn things around and the ring came out gorgeous. My wife loves with the ring. My only problem is the bar has been set high for Christmas next year,...
Read moreIf zero stars was an option, that would be my pick. I brought one of my prized possessions to this jeweler to be fixed. It was a real gold necklace where the chain broke. I simply asked for the chain to be prepared, never in my wildest dreams would I have expected what I expierenced to happen. When I picked up the necklace something felt off, I didn’t recognize the chain. I expressed concern and they didn’t even entertain my concerns and told me there’s no way it’s not my chain. I left, consulted with a friend of mine who is in the jewelry business and came back to the store and expressed my concern once again that this is indeed not my chain. I was clear that I thought it could have been an innocent mistake that the chains were mixed up and perhaps I accidentally was given the wrong chain. As the Chain I was given was chain link and mine was circular, and it was 6 inches longer…The owner (male) was extremely rude to me, he told me I don’t understand jewelry, or physics and that the chain he gave me was my chain. He argued with me for about 2 hours and I left in tears. I am attached photos of myself in the chain, and pictures of the original chain versus what I received back. Make your own call if you think this is my chain or not, however I would NEVER in one thousand years trust this business with any type or value of jewelry. And the customer service and verbal abuse was something I have never experienced in my...
