Wow, what cool place in Sparta, NJ. I’ve seen this place advertised (I am always looking and following eateries and such) but never was in the area at the right time (50 min. from home) We happened there on this past Sunday, needed a quick lunch for 4, it looked very busy. Well, Johnathan welcomed us with open arms and got us seated immediately!, he made us feel like family, mind you our first time there! He informed us of their Wood fired grill which peaked my interest! Our waiter sorry for not remembering his name, a young fella who had impeccable professionalism. He greeted the table with water, asked about drinks etc., came back for Apps. we got the chicken and chorizo nachos, what an awesome combo, we cleaned the plate. On to entrees, The ladies ordered the Black Pepper Pappardelle Bolognese, a little spice but hints of sweetness in a dark rich sauce (Gravy, if NJ Italian) and Topped with Burrata cheese. A, BYO Burger Bacon AM cheese LTO, cooked to perfection with a nice wood fire char. I did the 1/2 order of Blackened Salmon Tacos, the accompaniment of Black Bean relish, Poblano slaw and rice was perfect, the wood fire on the Salmon added amazing flavor. Throughout the meal our waiter was spot on, knowing we were pressed for time. Oh the atmosphere was great, a very cool old world charm, upscale causal. Highly recommended!

We came for a friends graduation party and really enjoyed it! We had the asparagus and leak soup, the chicken schnitzel, and apple crisp. The soup was surprisingly flavorful and enjoyable. We got the chicken schnitzel since it is locally known for it, which was a highlight. Breading was crisp, mash potatoes smooth, and green beans the perfect texture. I usually find breaded chicken a little bland, but the gravy sauce was very nice! The apple crisp was warm and I loved the streusel part. For drinks, I got the violet gimlet, which was fresh and strong. The mohawk smash was a whiskey blueberry drink that was popular with the party overall. Staff was very polite and attentive. Wish we lived closer! The area is very nice and we would love to return to try the pork chop (which looks delicious)

Arrived there with a party of 10 … My first time being there, my sisters raved on their chicken schnitzel andcrème brûlée. I personally ordered the chicken chorizo nachos, which were out of this world so delicious that was my appetizer. And then ordered the chicken schnitzel and a crème brûlée for dessert. Both were delicious. However, I have to tell you I tried my nephews pork chop, and it was the most amazing Porkchop I have ever eaten in my life so that will probably be my go to. Our waitress was Margo. She was such a sweetheart. Great personality. Yes, a lot of people complain about the price however, for this kind of excellent food it’s definitely worth the price and the trip.

While the restaurant was beautiful, clean, and aesthetically appealing with a great location across from the lake, and the food was decent, what left us most disappointed was the service. Bad service is really pet peeve of mine and no amount of good food or view can overlook that. We went for lunch on a gorgeous fall afternoon. Even with a reservation, we had to wait 40 to 45 minutes to be seated, which was fine since we wanted to sit outdoors. Our server started off well, but the attitude noticeably changed as the lunch went on. Drinks like sangria, wine, and cocktails were fine. Appetizers, spinach and artichoke dip and pretzels, were enjoyable. Mains, including Atlantic salmon, blackened salmon tacos, and chicken schnitzel, were decent but nothing special. The salmon was well cooked but small for the price and the tacos were decent but salty. Schnitzels were fine though. The service became the main issue. While we were still eating, our server asked if we were ready for the check without offering dessert or more drinks. When we requested the dessert menu and ordered another round of drinks, impatience was clear through sighs and eye rolls. When a friend ordered coffee, the server almost threw up hands and said, '" Is there anything else you need? Tell me now" This felt abrupt and unprofessional. While I understand they were understaffed but that's not an excuse for bad behavior or to show frustration. We were nothing but very polite and in a happy mood. Guests should not have to feel like an inconvenience. The setting is lovely, but the service ruined what could have been an...

The food is just not good and not worth the price. I had the steak tips special about a week or two ago and it was bland and tough and so hard to chew. Every-time I come here I end up getting something I don’t like. The only reason I go here is because my family lives up there and they always pick this place. The drinks are good. Our waitress didn’t even bring us menus and when she did there wasn’t even enough we all had to share and pass around. Didn’t come by us very often to check on us. It’s a beautiful place but they really need to get their food in check. I’ve been coming here for 4 years now and I’m always disappointed when my family makes reservations for this place. Especially for the amount of money we paid, the food was just disgusting there no other way I can explain it without being rude I’m sorry. My aunts steak that was expensive was inedible, my boyfriend’s food and mine. The two order of shrimp cocktail we got was just disgusting. If you’re going to charge that much for it make sure it’s good and not rubbery and tough. I know good seafood and this was not anywhere near it. I really wanted to like this place because it is a beautiful restaurant. I just wish their food was atleast decent and...
