I remember going to Sparta Books at it's old location (only a few doors down from where it is now) when I was much younger and going there today gives me that same feeling of excitement.
My fiance and I recently took a friend of ours visiting from Madrid to Sparta Books as he was looking for something specific that none of the book stores in Madrid carried. He found exactly what he was looking for thanks to the helpful staff and, in hindsight, says that brief trip to a local book store started his vacation to the US on a very high note.

The staff was very helpful and picked out the book The Woman In the Window for me because she noticed I was picking psychological thrillers which are my favorite. I read the book in three days which is impressive for someone with a 9 month old baby that takes up all my time. I loved it. Read moreI stopped by in the morning to browse for a book. I picked up an Emily Henry book and struck up a great conversation with the person behind the counter. Immediately when you walk in you find fiction for every person. You can tell the selection is carefully curated and selected but also seeing a lot of popular booktok books shows to me they’re keeping a careful eye for the various trends.
