Went shopping at the Brown Roof today with my mom. We are regulars at this great thrift store. Shopping there has always been a pleasure for both of us and the customer service has always been awesome.... UNTIL TODAY! I found some wonderful deals on a few items for my granddaughter and was very pleased. My mom found a good deal on a punch bowl with cups included that she really liked. When she got to the counter to check out, she was told that each cup (little cup) was $1 a piece. None of the cups had price tags on them and they were already set inside the bowl on the shelf. They were obviously the same design and was a complete set, excluding the cup hooks and ladle, which was not included inside the bowl.. Mom seemed discouraged with the purchase that went from $10 to $18 (would have been more if she decided to keep all 11 cups in the bowl). I took the bowls and cups with the receipt back into the store to speak with the 2 girls behind the counter. I explained to them the issue and unfairness of the cups being charged extra. They kept repeating themselves about how their "regulars" know that each cup is priced individually. I explained to them that we are regular customers and to show me where it says that rule in their store. The girl proceeded to show me a button on their cash register, which means nothing to me on the other side of the counter. The girls took an instant attitude and terrible customer service skills! The one girl then decided to roll her eyes and ignore me. Kept repeating themselves and would not offer any kind of reconciliation. I have NEVER been treated this way or taken advantage of when coming to The Brown Roof. Between both of us we have spent A LOT of money here. We will not be back anytime soon... until they get better employees with NO ATTITUDE. Makes me sad to have to write this review.. Especially when my boyfriends family is good friend...
Read moreMy husband and I made 2 trips with an 18 foot enclosed trailer full of donations 2 days in a row. The 1st day, we were helped and treated like someone appreciated the donation. The manager was there and made all the difference in the world. The second day we went and it was very different. When I went inside to ask where to go, the girl that had been there the day before, said "you have more?" In a not really happy to see you expression. She then told the other girl that someone was gonna be mad. Against my better judgment, we still went around back. The older gentleman came out, didn't speak back to me when I said hello. Out of 4 people, there was one girl who was very sweet and didn't act like we were bothering her.. We had a sofa that was very nice, no damage and would have been a real good piece they could have sold and made good money on, but the man didn't wanna help my husband pick it up, he laid it on its side almost on the ground on a dolly and literally drug the legs and took the wood off.. I am so sorry this is a longer message, but I am very disappointed that the sofa especially was treated in such a way when it could have been a true blessing to someone in need. I expressed to the girl when we were leaving and she did thank us, that I was disappointed at the way the stuff had been treated and the attitude..thats a sure way to eventually have no donations or business.. Doubt that we will ever make another donation there again.. We did not expect to be treated with any special treatment, but I truly wish the items would have been handled better. Thanks for listening! And Thanks to the pastor that had been so nice the 1st day and the...
Read moreI went in at about 6:30 during the week and was told my 12 year old couldn't use the fitting rooms because they only have attendendents until 5pm. They only have a 24 hour return window as well. Be aware of this policy if you intend to shop here. I made a special trip so my daughter could find pants and was disappointed in a trip that required guessing what might fit and having to return if I was wrong.
In response to the owner reply, there isn't a making it right as it happened and wasn't rectified at the time it could have been. It was a unexpected inconvenience when we needed access to a fitting room. The only correction would be empowering your employees to make judgement calls to make sure customers can still get access when it makes sense, or changing your return policy giving more than 24 hours to make a return.
I'm a dad that was trying to make sure his 12 year old was comfortable for an event. I took her after work and time was limited and our experience was very frustrating and disappointing at a stressful time. There was one employee and a volunteer sweeping the floors. Neither was willing to break your policy to let a young girl use the fitting room while shopping with her dad to try on 2 pairs of pants. I'd suggest empowering your volunteers and employees to make reasonable calls and encourage taking care of customers as a priority over blanket adherence. It just didn't make sense as someone who grew up working in retail. Sweeping the floors seemed to be a...
