Until recently I have only been in just a few times over last couple of years to purchase some very basic hard to find computer accessories. Recently I decided to build a custom computer, something I have never done and honestly was probably way out of my element trying something like this. I did talk to these guys first and got some advice but I was building a very specific style of computer and I was forced to order most my components online through newegg. I did feel bad that i couldn't keep the business local but computer parts are not stocked in most stores all though these guys have more than anyone that's for sure. Long story short I built the computer but was not able to get it to download windows 10 or get past the bios screen. Frustrated I went back and asked for advice. I was given very good advice but was unable to complete the task on my end at home, so I just brought it in to them. Three of their techs got involved and made the decision what to do. After 30 minutes and $40 bucks later they had loaded the program and drivers along with virus protection. They gave me a lot of great feedback on my machine and compliments on my build as well. I felt they did an amazing job with both the computer and customer service. I paid them $50 because I felt they addressed my issue immediately and did more than was required of them. I will be back this will not be my last build. Tanks guys for...
Read morePros: The staff here are fantastic, knowledgeable, and helpful. You can ask them questions and chat computers for hours. Both locations had a good local business feel. They'll also guarantee their products will work and they warranty their work in case anything goes wrong. Best Buy wanted to charge me $40 to test a power supply before I purchased it; I wanted to test it because it was DOA when I brought it home. Recycle Techs tested a brand new power supply right out of the box and it was green across the board; took seconds.
Cons: Their labor is a little expensive compared to their competition at $60 an hour which a build could take a few hours. Websites will charge a flat fee of $50 to $100. Also all of their components have at least a 20% mark up from their MSRP prices. Compared to Amazon or Best Buy they overcharge. I found some identical components online for as low as 50% cheaper. Their selection in store also isn't that great, but they can order parts if you need them, though at that point I just recomend Amazon or Newegg.
Conclusion: Ultimately they're a good little shop with pleasant employees. I do recommend seeing them and picking their brain if you have questions about PC building or just want to talk computers. Just expect to pay a bit of a premium. Definitely worth the price over Best Buy's terrible customer...
Read moreI would rate Recycle Techs at 4.75 stars out of 5! The service i was provided by them was great! I came into the store with a blueprint of what i wanted in my computer, the man at the counter ( Erik ) took a look at it and told me some of the parts i had in the build were overly priced and provided no extra performance and told me what i should change them to. In the long run i believe we saved about 500 or so dollars on the build with no loss in performance, which is fantastic. I was later emailed by Mike ( he put my computer together ) and told me it was ready to go. Mike was really excited about the way my pc turned out and it was nice to see someone so happy about what they do. My one and only complaint that cost Recycle Techs the .25 points is that when i was driving home a bolt fell out of the fans on the top of the case, so when i got home i had to screw it back in, and in the process found another bolt that became unscrewed so i had to tighten that one as well. I would highly recommend Recycle Techs to anyone looking to build a pc or to get their computer fixed, they do great work, are very helpful, and know what they are...
