Honestly, I'm shocked. This is unfortunate because we were super excited to come and the place looked awesome and had such great reviews but our experience was unfortunately less than great. I brought my service dog with me. After my drink was ordered and paid for, the bartender who claimed to be the owner delayed serving me for about 10 minutes. He first asked for paperwork and certification that my dog was a service dog. When I explained that it's against the law to request that and explained the law to him and informed him of the proper questions and my answers to them, he didnt believe me and continued to be belligerent. He said he needed to look it up. I saved him the trouble and produced the federal law on my phone. He said that state law was different and again asked for paperwork. I again told him that was illegal but produced the state law. He scrolled through and I pointed him to the section about identification and public access. He said he needed to find it on his own. After I waited several minutes for him to look for it (all of this with my dog laying at my feet watching me), I went to sit down with my friends and fiance. my dog laid on the ground beside me. After a couple minutes she alerted me to a panic attack. This encounter was getting increasingly stressful. I got up several minutes later (after the bartender had served several different people drinks) and asked if I would be served and if my dog and I would be allowed to stay. He continued saying that I havent presented proof and got his phone out saying he was still looking for the law. I told him I had shown him the law. He said that Service Dogs in training are not service dogs. My dog still has her in training patches on her vest. Because technically she is but also technically she has her tasks and is a full service dog. I explained this to him and he said he still needed to find the information. I informed him that if he continues to refuse service I will report the bar because what he is doing is illegal according to the Americans with Disabilities Act. He then became hostile and told me that I was not being refused, but instead he was waiting to serve me until he had the information. I told him I had shown him the information and that he broke the law several times by telling me I needed to produce paperwork. He told me he can refuse service to whoever and that I am now being refused service-not because I have a service dog-but because I was being mean. We left. I had a panic attack in the car on the way home and reported the bar on the ADA.gov website. Go to the Arcade Bar Downtown. So...
Read moreThe place was cool when I entered. This was my first time ever coming here. My fiancé has been there once before. I was deciding what I wanted to drink and setting up a game on the wii, while my fiancé grabbed us some water. We had been in the bar for 5 minutes before the Bar tender starts giving my fiancé(who has a disability ) a rant about needing him to buy a drink every so often and how he needs to make a profit(understandable since my fiancé mainly got water last night). Upon asking for some clarification, as my fiancé was confused on if we need to buy one right now or if we could like look and decide what we wanted first, he started to yell and repeat the same rant over again, then proceeded to ask us “So are you going to leave since you’re not buying anything right now?” In the snottiest tone. I didn’t even know how to respond, I didn’t even have a chance to see what they had on their menu. After our delayed responses and shocked faces the bartender immediately switched up and was like “here’s your water I am sorry, I’m being an asshole” in a not so convincing tone. Later, bartender waited forever before basically saying I had to get a soda or juice on a friends tab since the cover was covered. Wouldn’t leave me alone until I ordered something. Felt very uncomfortable. Will not be visiting again, especially if the bar tender won’t even give people a chance to decide what drink they want without being threatened to be kicked out. Too bad tho, the...
Read moreWent for the first time with my girlfriend and some friends. I love the concept and the game selection is INSANE - I hadn't even held an N64 controller since I was a kid, so that was cool already. The service is kinda mixed. The fellow doing the bartending handled a belligerent well while I was there, but the other reviews talking about the "buy a drink or get out" attitude aren't fake; we didn't catch any flak for my gf ordering a Roy Rogers, btw. We were carded right away, so I think the reviews complaining about that are just trying to get the place shut down. Drinks were good, about what prices are anywhere else in town so I don't get those complaints at all 🤷 The building is hella cramped though. If this were setup in something the size of like The Star, it would be something amazing. But as it is, this thing is built into like 600 sq feet. And I've been in smaller bars before - they just weren't as crammed full of gamer nostalgia. The place was highly recommended by several friends, so it's probably worth another visit in the future. Just needs some clearer signage about the drink minimum and an adjustment in attitudes and then this would likely be my...
