The food was ok and it wasn't that expensive either. You can order online, which I did both times we went. Both times, I got lunch specials that came with rice, beans, and a drink. And both times, I didn't get any of that and had to ask for it. The worker seemed irritated and didn't seem to understand. The second time she showed me the receipt only said burrito not burrito lunch special so that's what confused them which I understand after she showed me but still I was put off by the rudeness and haven't wanted to go back. Now let's get to the food. It was just ok. The rice and beans we all really liked. The burrito with potatoes was just limp fries. The rolled tacos were too hard and hardly no filling. The plates were made fast but messy. The chips and queso was shredded cheese, not a sauce. We actually got an asada fries we didn't order and put the meat, cheese, and guacamole from them onto the chips. They were good doctored up. Them fries itself were soggy and sad. So flavor was ok. Everything was just ok. So with the blandness and rudeness we only went twice and probably won't go back.

Visiting from Reno, Nevada for the holiday and stopped in for a quick bite after looking at some potential vehicles to purchase. I ordered the taquitos and they weren't bad at all for being something quick. The shredded beef could have been a bit more juicer and both ends of the taquitos weren't filled with meat. So basically leaving you with a bite full of just shell. I wished the guacamole was freshly made but it's store bought, which I get since this is a more fast food like establishment. The service was great and the employees were friendly. I dined in and got the bonus of checking out the salsa bar, which has different salsas, cucumbers, pickled onion, and jalapenos. I thought that was pretty cool and it was self-serve too. The ambience was pleasantly quiet and the inside of the restaurant was clean. There's a code to use the bathroom and it was also clean. It's worth mentioning there's a drive-thru.

Everything I hoped they'd be for lunch while shopping. We were in/fed/out in less than 25 mins. They are the sister resto to California Mexican Food on North Division--just so you all know--but the menu is abbreviated, hence the 'Cali Fast' moniker. The place has been nicely redone, the staff are all smiles, and it's well maintained so far. I went for a breakfast burrito, avoiding the MSG-fest proteins like their other place slings, and it was a perfect nosh. Their salsa bar is an absolute winner, with both mild and caliente offerings, along with traditional pickled veg options. Consider this visit numero uno, of many, with their location in a prime area for our metro shopping. Wicked affordable, too...

At first Califast when it initially opened was delicious. It was fresh. And fairly priced. I used to eat there regularly. I told my friends and they went also. Shortly thereafter the wheels started coming off. My friends told me how they messed up their orders and added things they told them not to. When they called and complained. They were interrogated and treated very poorly. They went as far as to tell my friends they were being dishonest. Since their integrity was in question they brought in the receipt showing the specifications and showed over sauced low meat burrito with sour cream on it. To which they begrudgingly then fixed the order. My friends refused to go there anymore. I gave Califast a benefit of a doubt. Unfortunately service and quality went down big time for me as well. Their special taco tuesday. Used to be awesome for me. Great priced tacos for the quality and meat portion amount. But the tacos were inconsistent several weeks in a row. Adding tomatoes and sour cream and such. And when I was emphatic about them not doing that I still got dry meat over cooked sat under a heat lamp too long meat. The tacos were not initially advertised with these things so to have to specify that in the first place when I didn’t before was a joke. Inconsistency and poor customer service really is the best way to describe this business. Part of the problem is by the time I would get home because of the extra ingredients the tacos would be soggy. And the tacos ended up being stale too as time as gone on. No more fresh ingredients. Up the price to maintain the quality if you need to but don’t give out a poor product to people! There also needs to be training on what should actually go into the items. As they are frequently messed up. I used to order their breakfast burrito as well all the time. Bacon and eggs. It was delicious at first. But then they started jacking up those ingredients. Adding pico and other things. Today I went by stating this happened recently and was me with hostility at the drive through mic. When I inquired about exactly what should be on the burrito in addition to the hostility she wouldn’t let me finish a sentence. Just over talked me. When I called her out about it and asked for her to listen she cut me off again and told me to have a nice day. I Will not be going back. And encourage everyone else reading this to not go there. This was a massive letdown! Don’t waste your time money or energy with this place. This small business is not grateful for your business. And I will be telling everyone I know not to go there as well. Today is Friday the 13th and it was about 3 PM when I was there. I hope whatever manager or person or owner reads this finds out who was running the drive-through and fires her. I doubt this will resolve the issue because obviously there is an issue with the kitchen as well. They need more training. And also other cashiers are being just as rude. So even if she is fired, this issue will probably...

My wife and I had a great experience here following a disappointing experience.

On this occasion we stopped at the drive thru for lunch and, instead of our usual order of breakfast burritos we both tried something new - she got a machaca burrito and I ordered a mar y tierra torta. When we got our food home the fries inside her burrito still had a bit of an uncooked potato crunch to them. My torta wasn’t as advertised, it was more like a pulled beef with pico - it was delicious, just not what I ordered. If only one of us had gotten our order wrong we probably would have left it alone, but I decided to go back a few hours later and see if they would want to address it.

Xavier reassured me that they would make it right, and he and the cook, Carlos, went above and beyond to take care of us. My wife had decided to get a breakfast burrito instead of the machaca if they offered to remake it, but Xavier had them make us both the sausage AND the machaca to have my wife give it a second chance. My remade mar y tierra torta was also very good. My only feedback would be that the uncooked onions on the torta were a little heavy in proportion to the rest of the ingredients. Overall, the steak and shrimp combo was very good!

One thing to mention - the picture on the menu shows the tortas finished in a grill press, but Xavier said their grill press is down, so they finished it on the regular grill. Still tasty, but not the same as a pressed torta.

Xavier also gave us a complimentary horchata. Carlos wasn’t the same cook as our earlier order and everything he made for us was delicious. Props and kudos to them both for going the extra mile to keep a customer. In summary, they more than made up for one bad order. Consistently their food is very good.

We come here all the time and their breakfast burritos are top notch! It’s worth noting that their breakfast burritos are always available - you can order a breakfast burrito at 10 PM or 3 AM if you want to, because they’re...

Don't even bother. Rude and inattentive service. Order taker sucking on a smoothie the entire time she was taking order at the front counter and carried it over to the food pick up area and continued slurping it there. First item ordered "I would like a single carne asado jumbo taco please." She states okay a carne asada combo with rice and beans. I state no, I don't want a combo, just one carne Asada taco. She replies ok 2 carne Asado tacos and rings it up. Again, I say no, just ONE taco only. Whew, on to next item. Kids bean and cheese burrito. Third item, beef taco salad and can you add jalapeños? Uhh, we don't have jalapeños. Okay, no problem. Wait for order, get home unpack order ... no taco salad at all and a single small hardshell taco instead. Check receipt, yep charged for a full taco salad. Taco wasn't ordered isn't on the receipt, yet that is what she bagged up. Husband called and it was like she was clueless on the phone how to handle the error. She says she can take our name and won't charge us for a taco salad ... like duh, we already paid for it and didn't get it ... why would you charge us again?? Now for the food, don't bother. Beans taste like dirt. The tortilla on the burrito is soggy and tastes very stale. The asado burrito was okay at best, but was served on a polystyrene tray, which isn't even to be used for prepared take out orders here. Meat cooked too long and a bit dry. Husband after driving all the way back for taco salad advised that it is mediocre and that is being generous. Spend your time and...
