This is my favorite local place to buy plants. I love the variety of options that they have, though over the past couple of months I've noticed a lot of the plants look less happy than normal... Not sure why, but some look severely neglected. The few anthuriums I've seen, for example, look super unhappy. I'd like to see some discounts for the half dead plants so I could rehab them, but I don't want to pay $70+ for a philodendron that might have to be chopped. I've done it several times because I have no self control, but still. A discount please. Some of these plants are also a bit overpriced. $189 for a small Florida ghost is really high above market value, those are Florida Beauty prices. And several of the plants I've bought here have rust fungus which is easy to treat, but very contagious.
I've also noticed that a lot of the more expensive philodendrons seem to be potted in pure peat or something similar. Something that is very hard to separate the plant roots from, and holds too much moisture to be a sustainable potting medium for aroids. I understand that this is common for plant nurseries, but I bought a $70 golden dragon where 2 of its 4 leaves were yellowing from over watering the day that I bought it and it was also light stressed. I paid full price. I'm still trying to work up the courage to separate it from the peat- you can't stick your finger into the pot to check moisture, it's just one solid wall.
Other than that, the big thing I'd suggest that they change is make the more expensive plants easier to look at instead of having them back so far that you can't really see them. You can ask an employee to grab one to look at it up close, but I like to see what grabs my eye and it's too hard to do that when they are so far back. Still, if you're a plant lover this place is worth a visit. I'm giving this place 4 stars because I love going there and buy something every week, but there's room for...
Read moreDO NOT BUY FROM THIS SITE! If I could give this company a zero I would. Ordered three Hoyas took a about a week to arrive, and they were saturated, Hoyas do not like to be watered that much! Once unboxed and left to settle into my home, they went into complete shock and stress, they shed their leaves and small flies grew out of the soil, there was no saving these plants. I had to toss them. I originally contacted the store asked what could be done, their advice to me was to "pot up" the plant, and that their online sales was separate from them. Could not get a hold of a person from their online sales, only a Instant messenger chat bot, where I could not upload a photo, and by the time I was given a email address days later after calling the store again, I had already thrown out the plants. Tried to get a credit back or partial refund, and was told their policy is once it leaves their warehouse they are NOT responsible, hence NO REFUND. A company that does not regulate how they ship out their products or stand behind their products, is not a Company any consumer should buy from. I have learned a hard lesson, and 200 bucks later, to READ their policy, and not take a chance on them! Sadly, as most plant lovers can relate we are usually a community who supports one another, so this is my support to you, do not order from them through their online store, unless you are willing to risk your money. I am extremely disappointed as my hope was to have three beautiful hoyas to add to my collection, but instead I got the stress of them dying, and a merchant who hires employees that don't know how to help when a issue arrives, and gave me bad advice, and most importantly will not stand behind their shipping of their products, then why offer shipping, if you know the risk of the plant not making it, by the way you...
Read moreAfter 2 years I went in to give it another shot. Staff was much friendlier and didn't make us feel uncomfortable at all. Their selection and prices were great. Glad I we came in!
The employees make you feel like a burden when you walk in. They don’t greet you, they stare at you like you don’t belong there. If you like to feel welcomed when shopping somewhere, this is not the place for you. Try Ritters, Chop Shop (coming soon), NWSP, Judy’s enchanted Garden, Liberty Park, Smart Garden, and especially Park Place Plants!
Edit in response to owner: I am not the only one who feels this way. Nor have I come into the store in almost a year because of how uncomfortable I feel. They may recognize my face but that doesn’t mean I was spoken to or welcomed in anyway. I understand it’s been a busy few years for staff and continues to be but there’s no excuse when they’re all standing in a circle just chit chatting and staring at customers. I shop at other local plant shops (I know the greenhouse supplies them but I do it just to avoid going into your store) and frequently order online now. I truly hope the customer service...
