To-Go Order Only I work at a Retirement Community and because of Covid-19 we have been placing to-go orders with different restaurants to bring the residents as a treat and piece of normalcy. Rancho Viejo could not have made this process more difficult. I called the day before to give the restaurant ample time to complete the five lunch orders we wanted to pick up the next day at 11:15am (their restaurant opens at 11am). When I called the first time I was told to fax the orders over, then call after 5:30pm to pay. So I did. When I called at 5:30pm like the lady suggested I was hung up on. I called back and explained what I was instructed to do and that I would like to pay for the to-go order in advance. The man who answered, put me on hold for 12 minutes and never came back. So I called again. A lady answered this time and told me to call back later because the lunch order I had faxed over was in their manager's office and they can't get in. But if I called back later the manager would be here and we could put the order in and pay. That's fine, so I call back an hour later. The 4th time I called a different woman with a sharp attitude told me the 5 lunch orders came out to $109. When I asked how that could be because each order was around $10. She rudely told me that the prices I had expected were wrong and she needs to charge me dinner prices for these lunch items because I am calling late (I GOT THE PRICES FROM THE MENU OFF THEIR WEBSITE THAT I HAD CALLED PREVIOUSLY TO CONFIRM WERE CORRECT & I was told to call back at that time). She told me to call back in the morning to get the lunch prices. I called in the morning I gave the lady who answered my order. When she confirmed the prices with me I found out that the inflation for their lunch items jumped from $10 to $17. I told her if that's the case then the menu on their website is wrong and she agreed that it is EXTREMELY outdated. Long story short and seven phone calls later, we didn't go there and will never go there. The people at De Leon Foods however were extremely nice, took the food orders right away, their online menu was up to date, and the...
Read moreOn February 6, me and my son went out for his birthday and went to this restaurant. Just trying to celebrate his 11th birthday. He really wanted birria tacos.
As soon as we arrived We were secluded from the other family’s in the restaurant.
A lady came up to take our order. My son wanted a Dr Pepper no ice I ordered a cherry Coke as well as a alcoholic beverage Dos Equis.
they brought us back our drinks But I was still waiting for my alcoholic beverage while we were snacking on Chips and salsa going over The menu.
Approximately two minutes later, she approached us said, can I take your order? I let her know we needed a few more minute's please because we were reading over the Menu to try and find what my son was really craving. For his birthday.
My son Which is Latin American asked if they had birria tacos and the lady waitress was rude and said you’re in the wrong place for that.
You can go down the street for that. I let her know thank you very much. I will look into it for him and proceeded that we needed a few more minutes going over the menu then and told her thank you very much.
Approximately 3 minute later, a gentleman came up was very rude said I’ll take your order now. I Let him know I Haven’t received my alcoholic beverage and we needed more time to go over the menu.
Yes, me and my son were eating the chips and salsa We were almost out At that time, he said, let me guess you want more chips And salsa.
That’s when I proceeded to say I would like my check, please Even my 11-year-old son seen what was going on. He was heartbroken. The gentleman took us up to check out and I paid $18.23 Sense yes I left them a tip of $3.04 because that’s 20%.
Such a waste of money and time being treated so poorly my son cried in the car. They treated us horribly and I’m very upset. I reached out to try and talk to a manager or the owner and they keep giving me the runaround.
So please, everybody be kind, courageous and caring to everyone because God is here and...
Read moreMy family (wife and two young children) along with my parents ate at Rancho Viejo for the first time on Saturday, July 27, 2024. I often say that for my unsophisticated palate I find most typical family Mexican restaurants to taste very similar. A lot of times, at least for me, the food at one Mexican restaurant is very similar to the taste of the food at the other Mexican restaurant down the road.
So when it comes to Rancho Viejo, I must say that my personal trend continued. The food was good but it didn’t necessarily stand out from other Mexican restaurants I eat at. Rest assured, you will get a solid meal when you visit Rancho Viejo but it isn’t going to taste like something you have never had in your life. BUT, there are a couple things that do separate Rancho Viejo from other Mexican restaurants. First, the atmosphere/décor. It is very festive, cozy, and fun inside the restaurant. Photos and framed movie posters line the walls. It is like a story is being told. The colors, decorations, and even the thoughtful bathrooms make for a very nice environment. Second, the value is better than average. Prices are more affordable and you get a bigger plate as well. Third, the American menu is top notch. My son ordered a cheeseburger and it was a big, thick burger that looked better than something you would get at an American burger joint. Fourth, the soda is cold and well-carbonated. So many times I go to a restaurant and receive a flat soft drink…not at Rancho Viejo. All of us who ordered sodas (and we all got different kinds) commented on how fresh and bubbly they tasted.
If you want a reliable, colorful Mexican restaurant with good service and key intangibles, give Rancho...
