First of all, let me start off by saying I do not like to leave negative reviews, however, I believe parents doing research out there should be aware of our first year experience in club volleyball with TAV.
This was my daughterâs first year in club volleyball and she was super stoked.! She got on the 13 silver team, coached by Anastasia. The season started off positive until we began attending tournaments where it where it became super clear. none of the girls had been taught nor understood the basics of volleyball. The other coaches and referees at tournaments were having to step in and tell our girls where to go and what to do, etc. And our girls were constantly losing, and this continued well over halfway into the season. It was extremely painful to watch⌠over n over gain. More than halfway through the season,, several parents complained, and finally the coach started addressing the fundamentals. Parents also had to step in and help with weekly practices.
Additionally, the girls did not have all uniform items and accessories for much of the season⌠I had to end up finding sneakers for my daughter elsewhere, and her backpack came in towards the end of the season.
The parking is also an issue, as you can clearly gather by reading other reviews.
Sunday afternoon practices were doable, however, the Wednesday night practices from 7:30 to 9:30 were rough on us so halfway through the season we began leaving practices at 9 PM and my daughter still wasnât in bed until well after 10 PM. This made it difficult for her to get up early in the morning on Thursday mornings for school and school will always Trump a club sport in our home.
Additionally, we attempted several times to get private lessons during the week with coach Bill. While he was great when we did get lessons with him, he ended up canceling our group of girls lessons, multiple times, in favor of his older girls team lessons last minute and always right before tournament weekends. This was not fair to us, and quite honestly not professional. I reached out to other instructors for private lessons as well, and they just had such limited spots It did not work out.
Lastly, this season just ended and the girls played their final tournament. We were unable to make it to the âworkingâ game that day because I had a severe migraine, but we were there well before the playing game. There were plenty of players to work the working game while the other teammates were simply just walking around. Coach Anastasia decided to intentionally benched our daughter the entire first set to âpunishâ her and humiliate her in front of her teammates to the point she was so demoralized and in tears. Then she had the audacity to call her off the court in the second set (when she did decide to play her finally ) and tell her she needed to stop crying and get it together. in front of everyone. She later explained to me that essentially she decided to âpunishâ our daughter for not staying for the last 30 mins of the Wed night practices and for being late that day.
My husband and I were beyond upset! This was a horrible way to end the season for our daughter (and us parents) and just further confirmed for us that our daughter should play club volleyball elsewhere.
Come to find out, many other parents of girls on our daughterâs team shared our thoughts on their experiences with TAV as well and are also leaving to...

To anyone considering TAV â the answer is YES, join TAV!
Our family joined TAV last summer, and our experience with the organization â particularly with the team led by Bill Reynolds and Ashley Barreda â has been nothing short of exceptional.
Despite our daughter facing an injury that sidelined her for half the season, the growth and development she experienced were remarkable. The coaches were attentive, encouraging, and instrumental in keeping her engaged and motivated throughout her recovery.
Like with any club team, the level of your involvement as parents plays a huge role in shaping your childâs experience. TAV provides the resources, but itâs up to us as parents to help foster a positive and supportive environment.
Our advice to new families: ⢠Invest in private lessons with TAVâs talented coaching staff. Coaches like Kacie, Isaac, and Stephen were phenomenal in helping our daughter grow her skillset. She went from struggling with basic serving to confidently jump-serving in just one season â a testament to her hard work and the quality of coaching at TAV. ⢠Get involved! Organize team lunches, outings, or bonding events. The culture you want to see wonât build itself â it takes effort and community. ⢠Take advantage of the communication tools. The scheduling apps and timely updates have been invaluable for our busy household. With both parents working, staying in the loop would have been difficult without the structure and clarity TAV provides.
TAV may not be perfect, and itâs not for everyone â especially if youâre not fully committed. This is a competitive, developmental environment that requires time, effort, and dedication.
That said, for us, the experience has been incredibly rewarding. Watching our daughter grow not only in her volleyball skills but also in her confidence, discipline, and love for the game has been worth every moment. We look forward to continuing our journey with TAV and seeing our daughter â and possibly her younger sister â continue to thrive in this program.
With gratitude,
The...
Read moreWe are visiting for a tournament and the facility rules state that you cannot bring in outside food or drink. But the concession stand ran out of breakfast food and by 10:30 only had chips and candy to offer. These girls have been playing since 8:00 (7 if you count warm up) and they have no decent food. Next time we come here, we'll bring our own snacks and lunch. I'd advise you to do the same.
Editing to include - the AC is broken so it is swampy in here. AND two toilets in the ladies room are...
