J & K Electronics - Houston Home Automation — Local services in Spring

Absolutely first rate company. First, the owner distinguished himself from his competitors by his willingness to service, repair and help maintain a much older home automation system (Leviton). No other contractor in the Houston area was willing to do so. None! They all wanted to sell a new $20,000 system, rather than help keep my old one alive. So kudos to the integrity of J&K Electronics.

Second, once I was ready to retire the old system, J&K did a masterful job at replacing my entire audio system (which has multiple zones throughout the home) with a modern upgrade at a reasonable cost. Installation went smoothly and all works as expected. Really, better than expected.

Lastly, I was most impressed with J&K when they were able to install a bedroom television that accessed my ceiling speakers (installed when home was built). They cleverly found the speaker connections in the wall and installation was done in a way that avoided any heavy work to the drywall. No other contractor I spoke to seemed willing to experiment with this.

So that's really the summation. If you want a rote, one size fits all McDonalds job, hire a rando shop. But if you are particular about your wants, and desire personal service and an advisor, who will experiment with things for you and patiently give you options (for example, I have more than a half dozen retro video game systems he had to work with), then hire J&K. This is worst and the most expensive (over $300.00) service I have every received. For my Christmas and birthday present my children had given me a 60” LED Smart TV with sound bar. The technician told me the TV was one of worst TV on the market and would not last five years. Also the sound bar was cheap. He hung the TV and sound bar but the sound bar was not level and my son re-hung the sound bar. I have a DVD/VCR that needed to be connected; he told me that it was old and outdated but he just happens to have another DVD player on the truck. I still have VHS tape and needed to keep this player; he told me he would look for the video cables. This was on December 17th about a week late I called and he was still looking for the cables. The office later called and told me that he was still looking for the cable and would contact me after the holidays. He did contact me to explain that he is still looking for the cables. I stopped by Best Buy and explained my problem and I was quickly shown the cables. I ask to have the Geek Squad stop by to setup DVD/VHS player and connect Netflix. I called for a DLP chip to replace in 73 Inch DLP TV and was quoted $225.00 out the door without installation. We drove to J&K, I was advised that they would not sale the chip to a Consumer that it was not athorized my Mitsubisi for them to do that. I ordered the factory chip from an online store for 149.00 dollars and had it in 3 day and installed it myself in 40 minutes saving the 250.00 dollar installation price from J&K which relates to $6.25 per minute plus the savings without having to transport the 73 inch tv 60 miles round trip and wait 3 days to pick it up. They must need the Business for they techs and not need the parts sales which is a big part of any business!!!
