Wow and thank you Vance for moving so much closer! Let me tell you about an incredible experience I had last week at the Springdale location! I'm with my niece looking around for a G17 and Scott introduced himself to help us. I was bummed out that the G17 was out of stock. Scott was like is there anything else on your gun wish list? I thought, well yes a small compact so when I take my niece to the range she can shoot something comfortable. Scott said, I have just the thing! How about this Taurus GX2, it's inexpensive, reliable, accurate, and looks great. And indeed it did look awesome! Yes, I will take that. While walking towards the paperwork counter, Scott asked have you seen the Glock Pink Glitter compact? My niece perked up and asked to see it. Scott pulls out a Glock G43X Pink Pixie, a pink glitter hand gun (look it up) that reminded me of a gun a stripper might carry (not that I ever went home with a stripper and had a gun pulled on me.) My niece was like "Yes" please, and I was like we will take both please. I'm 2 guns deep and happy and Scott was like, "is there anything else you have dreamed of owning?" Hypnotized by this gun demon, I said yes a unique 1911 but I haven't seen anything here. Scott quickly responds, we have a Colt 1911 Gold Cup that is outstanding, walk right down here. From a glass cabinet only 10 feet away he pulls out a piece of art! The most beautiful Colt 1911 45ACP with a blue grip, like nothing I have ever seen before. Well, I had to have it! Acting cool and calm, I said, yes we will take it. I just wanted to get to the paperwork as soon as possible! As we arrived at the paperwork counter, Scott whispered quietly, you know we have some incredible Sig Sauers in those 2 glass display cases. Like a brave solider, I let Scott know I was not interested at all, but would take a look just for giggles. 3 minutes later there was a Sig Sauer AR15 DH3 on the counter next to 3 other guns. I was thinking, please dear God lets do the paperwork! Then Scott pulled the old "missing box" trick LOL. He apologized 20 times that they could not find the box for one of the guns, always saying just a few more minutes. During those waiting moments, I could feel those Sig Sauer display cases calling me, calling me closer. I distract my niece, telling her to go look at kayaks or canoes or something that floats. I walked towards the Sig Sauer display cases and peaked in again. There was a flash of light so bright I was confused but instantly found myself back at the counter, now a 5th gun was on the counter top, a Sig Sauer MPX Copperhead. Instantly now they had found the box! I completed the paperwork as fast as possible, I just needed to get out of there before I bought something crazy, like a Yeti thermal cup. After buying another couple hundred dollars in ammo, I burst through the sliding doors, now owner of some of the most awesome guns ever! Later that weekend I may have been assaulted by my stripper girl friend (Destany.) Cause I was at the range all weekend! It was so worth it!
Most of the story is true as far as the guns! I have been to so many gun counters in my 58 years, but Scott was so outstanding in service, knowledge, and just over all friendliness, that he deserves an incredible special mention! I will be back and I highly recommend everyone asking for Scott and...
Read moreThis Vance Outdoors location is large, spacious and has a great selection of all things outdoors, primarily focused on hunting, fishing, firearms, knives , etc.
I went there to purchase a new handgun and their selection did not disappoint.
The firearms counter was very busy and there did not seem to be a good customer/Vance employee ratio. Too many customers and not enough employees.
People waited in line, myself included, for what seemed like entirely too long at the firearms counter.
Once I had somebody helping me, the process sped up somewhat.
I traded in some handguns I currently owned because I wanted to purchase a new Staccato CS (2024 Version) 2011 9MM Pistol.
I selected the version of pistol I wanted with a flat trigger and green fiber optic front site. The employee got it out of the case and I looked at it/agreed to buy it.
This is the same pistol I told them I wanted when I called in to check stock prior to my arrival.
Once the purchase was complete, I went outside to my car and decided to open the range bag the gun comes in and look the Staccato over once more.
It was then I realized they had sold me a pistol with a curved (not flat) trigger and red (not green) fiber optic front sights.
This was not the pistol I had handled and said I wanted.
I had to go back into the store, and return the gun I had just purchased and do all of the paperwork again, to get the gun I had told them I wanted in the first place.
This took an inordinate amount of time and I was in Vance's for hours and hours simply to purchase one handgun.
The staff was polite and corrected the error, but still charged me the $80 difference for the pistol I had told them I wanted from the beginning.
The salesman tried to say I had selected the wrong pistol, even though I had told him repeatedly I wanted the CS with a flat trigger and green sights.
They could have reviewed security footage (cameras everywhere) to verify that the mistake was on their end, rather than acting like the mistake was on my end.
But they did not. I paid the $80 increased difference and left the store with the correct pistol.
The staff was polite-ish, like I said, but seemed overworked and kind of frazzled.
A gun counter that is that busy needs more employees working at it. And employees that know what they are doing 100%.
Some employees seemed very knowledgeable while others had to ask questions on virtually every aspect of gun sales.
I would have given them 5 stars if they would have corrected their error,...
Read moreVance Outdoors (Springdale) makes a more restrained impression overall 🔫 and, quite frankly, differs noticeably in level from higher-tier specialized stores. From the perspective of someone who examines a firearm system the way a surgeon analyzes tissue anatomy 🧠, there are definitely things worth paying attention to here. The assortment is decent 🔍, but mostly represented by universal, commercially-oriented models without a deep selection of premium lines or modular solutions designed for serious customization ⚙️.
While inspecting the handgun section, it immediately becomes clear that most pistols are offered in their basic configurations, without alternatives for slides, barrels, or trigger mechanisms 🛠️. In the long-gun area there are popular semi-automatics and shotguns, but not enough variation in stocks, gas blocks, or handguards 📌.
The staff are polite and try to help 🙏, but at times it feels like their expertise is geared more toward the standard consumer segment: questions about mounting radii for red-dot sights or exact bore dimensions for selecting match-grade ammunition may cause some hesitation 💭. The layout is convenient and the displays are open 📦, though the placement of accessories and parts gives the impression that the primary focus is on the...
