I live right down the street, so this is my neighborhood grocer. I would much rather go there than walk into a Walmart or even Price Cutter, and I don't even mind to pay a little extra for the stuff, because they're small and convenient. However, I will say I consistently am disappointed by the evening workers. Every time I go there after 8pm, the open sign is NEVER on. The first time I remember that happening I saw it wasn't on and I kept driving because I assumed they were closed. The next time, I saw there were still people going in, so I checked the website, hours said open till 9pm. So I went inside. I realize the kids are trying to clean so they can get out of there, but the way you're treated after 8pm is not customer service. Last night was the final straw! We got there at 8:20pm...again, open sign was off...there was a kid on some sort of machine, buffing floors or something, going up and down the isles. We walked down an isle to look at some things and he was coming up the other way. He just stopped and stared at us. We literally had a 1 min. staring competition. It was so awkward. He was looking at us as if to say, can you move?! To which we held our ground, because it was 8:30, the store is open, and we are here to shop! Luckily the cashier gal was very nice, so that made up for it, but I think it's poor customer service to be treated like a nuisance if you come in after 8pm. Response: It was the location on Republic road. I'm wondering if the open sign is broken. I drove by Sunday at 7pm and the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis is the 2nd time Iāve been made to feel like my business isnāt valued, when shopping at Harter House. I enjoy their meats, but when shopping today I was approached by an employee speaking loudly and asked where my mask was and then I felt hesitation, from her, as to whether I would be able to check out, or be escorted out of the store, without my groceries. Apparently, Springfield has mandated masks, as of today, but since Iām not from Springfield I had no idea and there were no signs stating the mandate anywhere. The air of superiority exists at Harter House Stores, but this was quite surprising to me. And as normally experienced, no one helps me load my groceries in my basket: once checkout is done the checker gives you your receipt and moves to the next person in line, rather than taking a minute to help me get the sacks in the basket. Currently, Iām using a cane, so getting around is not as easy as normal for me. My other experience was at the Hollister location, for a return of less than $20, as being scrutinized and questioned as to why I was making the return. I fly all over the US, as a working hospital contractor, and must say Iām looking forward to more grocery options in Springfield and...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI currently have Covid and did a grocery pick up from here on 1/6/22 I let them know we had Covid before we got there in the notes so they wouldnāt make contact with us. When I got there and called the number the nicest lady I have ever met answered the phone (I wish I asked for her name but I didnāt think of it) she checked to make sure there wasnāt anything else we may have forgot or needed because she knows how forgetful you can be when you have Covid, we assured her we had everything we needed and she said sheād bring our order right out. When she got out there she brought us a king size reeseās in case we loose our taste because thatās the only thing she could taste when she had Covid and wanted us to have something we could taste. That is by far the nicest jester a random person has done for me in a long time and the whole experience meant a lot and absolutely made my weak. If they lady who did that for us gets to read this thank you so much it really meant...
