Sometimes I just want Habachi without it being a communal experience. Nothing wrong with enjoying a table with strangers, but this day and age already has a cloud over that, and frankly I don't need to see the onion volcano or to be singled out to have a shrimp tail flipped on my plate, I just want lunch. Habachi got you covered for the food without needing the pretense of someone's 46th birthday at the table, and they came in from their place in the country for "exotic fine dining".
All kidding aside, this place is low key, and chill. It's family owned and they usually have the family there helping out and I really appreciate that sort of family experience over a table where I feel obligated to clap 6-12 times during dinner because I wanted extra noodles.
Haven't tried to sushi yet, but I've heard good things. Give it a try if you want Japanese style cuisine in a cafe level of expectations on what to expect. It keeps it simple and...
Read moreI have eaten here twice, and was underwhelmed both times. I will start with the positive and say the sushi is good. If I was just looking to go out for sushi and a beer, this would be a great choice, the grill is where the problems are.
The fried rice does not have the proper taste or texture. I think of fried rice as being dry and firm and with color and sear, however the fried rice here is mushy and bland and has no sear. It seems like a reheated rice from several days prior that has gone mushy in the fridge, not fried to order.
Additionally my steak had no sear on it and seemed underseasoned. When you think of hibachi steak you think of that deep sear and lots of seasoning, but I didn't get that.
For a lunch combo and one order and sushi i paid almost $30, which is more what I expect to pay for a good dinner, not a mediocre lunch.
Both times I've been it was for lunch. Maybe dinner...
Read moreI used to love Hinode and some of the other big pretty sushi places in town like them. But the way I order sushi, it would always have a super big bill and not alot of sushi. But then I tried this place, and omg. Looks are very deceiving because it doesn't look like much at all on the outside or inside. But the food is where their juice is at lol. Same great taste as other prettier MUCH more expensive sushi places in town, but for like half the price almost. The food is great, the prices are VERY reasonable, the ppl are nice, and I've never seen it super crowded, at least not when I've gone. I think it's a hidden gem for this type of food in this area. Hope this...
