EDIT: Unfortunately, I have to redact stars until this gets amended. I went in person to change my membership in September, I wanted to go from Edge Fit to basic because I'm in a tight financial situation. I sat and talked with an employee and watched them edit my membership and monthly payments on their computer. And yet, I've been charged the Edge Fit prices for the past 3 months. It is ridiculous to me that I had specifically gone in person because I knew in advance it was impossible to do over the phone, and they still failed to properly change my membership. It should not be that hard and misleading to do this. They have made no offer to recharge me this amount, just told me it will cost $56 to change my membership.
Original: I love this gym and this location specifically. Switched from the St. Peters one. I'd recommend the cheapest membership level, it's really not a bad deal aside from the $100 or so sign up fee. Then there's a $50 annual but I've been to other franchise gyms for more and for the $11/month here it's definitely worth it here. Can't speak to the benefits of the higher tiers.
Fair warning, I've heard the cancelation process is tricky. If you're going to move, make sure you cancel beforehand because it needs to be done in person, and time it so it's 30 days before your next payment. I do think it's a bit scummy to make their contract that way, but I don't really think other gyms are better.
Only other complaints is that sometimes things are down; whole first week there they were out of wipes. I really wish they'd switch to rags/paper towels and spray bottles like we had at Club Fitness, the amount of wipe waste has to be crazy. And then that they aren't 24 hours. With how busy they usually are, I really think they should be 24hr.
On the other hand, what you get for it is definitely worth it. While it's often very busy, there's an amazing range of workout equipment and it's not hard to wait for what you need. Really great when you find the low-traffic times (1-3pm is what I've found). Great free weight area, lots of machines, a cushioned floor for stretching and other kinds of workouts. Even a couple weight sleighs and ropes. And the cardio THEATER with treadmills is genius. Just wish they had subtitles. My other favorite thing is decently priced protein shakes. Not junk food like I've heard of Planet Fitness having. And I've only interacted with wonderful staff members!
Get the cheap membership, get a workout buddy to hold you to your routine, and start working out a couple...
Read moreSo, This rating is for the poor customer service Iâve experienced with the Edge fitness in Saint Ann. I signed up for the membership back in 2020 but due to COVID there was a delay in the opening of the gym. When they did decide to open in my opinion COVID cases was still a lot out here in the county so ultimately I decided not to go. I did ask if I can cancel my membership or freeze it at the time the manager told me NO and I would have to cancel closer to the date that my policy would be up and that would be on 2/27/22. So I called on 1/10/22 and cancelled and also received an email confirmation to verify that I did speak to someone and the last payment would be taken out on 2/27/22. So March is here and now theyâre charging me like $36.53. Iâve called the local gym in Saint Ann numerous times requesting to speak to a manager theyâre never available and front desk asks to take down my number so the manager can call back. The first couple times I did give my number and one of the employees who works at the front desk told me to contact ABC fitness I called them theyâre on some mess. The last employee I spoke to at the front desk was over talking me and was being real rude. At this point Iâve called my bank and setup a dispute because based off the email and conversation that I had with Edge fitness in Saint Ann thereâs no way I should still be getting charged! And mind you I havenât stepped foot in the gym and didnât trip over the recurring charges from the previous months because of the contract but I need them to do the right thing and...
Read moreWith the other gym club being new in town and attracting new members, you would think Edge Fitness, particularly Northwest Plaza, would consider leveraging their customer service skills - but no. Instead of being a friendly and welcoming environment, which many of us have called this our safe space has become unbearable. Let me clarify.
The folks who make our shakes are extremely nice and pleasant however; the management - not so much. One manager in particular micromanages guests. How do you micromanage folks who are paying their monthly/annual dues? The ânew rulesâ are insane. We arenât allowed to use the turf unless we have shoes on. Now, the floor, I can understand that. But the turf is made for us to do self-led exercises such as: yoga, stretching, Pilates, etc. Additionally, we arenât allowed to bring weights to the turf even though there are weights already there for us. Also instead of walking around greeting guests and building rapport (which is customer service 101), this manager patrols the area and issues out verbal citations on what we arenât allowed to do anymore . Please feel free to search Edge Fitness or gym on social media and youâll see how other Edge clubs across the country have allowed guests to use the turf freely.
Closing statement: the decline in memberships is not due to the other club, itâs due to management creating a hostile environment.
PS. I know it may be a little too early for a New Yearâs Resolution but I hope Northwest Plaza will consider adding âbecoming customer friendlyâ to the...
