Rude, disrespectful, disorganized, and will not honor posted prices. Don't shop here.
LATEST ISSUE I went into the store yesterday looking for printer ink. They did not have the ink I needed. I noticed a Blu-Ray drive on the shelf for $29, but wasn't there for it at that time.
I then noticed that some employees left $600+ worth in SSD's outside a locked display where anyone could pocket them. I brought this up to the store manager before leaving.
Today, I went into the store to pick up the Blu-Ray drive since $29 was a good deal. I looked at the description. It matched what was on the box. I went to check out. The cashier told me it was $80. I explained that the shelf said it was only $29.
The cashier said 'the computer never lies'. I asked her to honor the shelf price. She said that 'As a Front End Lead, I will not honor that price'. (I think her name was Aliyah/Akesha, something like that). I asked her to follow me back where I can show her the location I found the product and the pricing. She said she "I have no interest in doing so."
I asked to speak to the manager on duty. The same manager that I reported the SSD's to was on duty today. I explained the situation and told him that I didn't care how the product was zoned, I only cared that they would honor the price. When I brought him over to the location, the descriptions matched. The manager then looked at the SKU and said that it was 1 number off so he would not honor the price. He didn't care that the produce had sat in that location for a while, only that the SKU was different.
After helping the story avoid $600 in theft, I find the attitude of the Front End Lead disrespectful. I find the lack of willingness (by the store manager) to work with me in light of his staff's failure disappointing.
Yet, there are so many other issues with this store.
DISORGANIZED STORE I've seen several other products in the wrong locations during my last 4 visits over the last 2 months. This is not customers, but entire lines of product with a tag for a completely different product. I've asked about this before to verify if the price is correct or not. This never changes.
IGNORANT STAFF Their staff don't know the first thing about their product. If you need help with a computer, home security, appliance, or other non-TV item, they have to look it up. They are not the experts that they claim to be. An example of this was my purchase of a Washer/Dryer combo unit (Jan 2024). They told me it could be separated. The delivery guys said it could not. I had to reject the delivery to get my money back.
Best Buy is far from the solutions store they claim to be. This Waite Park location has failed to serve on so many occasions. I'm not sure why I keep giving them chances to fail again, but failure seems inevitable with them. I WOULD RECOMMEND AVOIDING THIS STORE.
UPDATE: I reached to Best Buy Complains after their response. They said they were unable to assist me further. Best Buy DOES NOT CARE (based on my...
Read moreA valued community utility for recycling the countless e-waste produced by modern living, but hardly the cheapest place to drop off a TV or monitor. Since the revolution of e-commerce, Best Buy has unfortunately assumed the mantle of Amazon's electronics showroom, but they have weathered the storm quite well and even taken the challenge in stride by opening themselves up to price matching for identical products sold by a great number of its competitors—including Amazon. It's expansive displays of personal computers, however, have for decades been lifeless (and socially awkward) square feet of retail-mode museum pieces: each is a desktop screen demonstrating none of the attractive features of the respective devices. There are no games to play on the gaming PCs. There are no battery life tests running on the Chromebooks. The Apple devices are all on their own island instead of gloating next to their proletarian competitors. Walking through the showroom floors might inspire a dreaded, "Is there anything I can help you with today?" from an employee, but it's not the prices of new devices or the uneasiness that some people feel when they think they have to buy something to belong or fit-in in an electronics store that makes this weird; what makes this weird is that the form of the showroom is sold to product manufacturers for the function of sales—or so I'm told—and not designed to develop and maintain a culture of passion for technology. People absolutely love going out and looking at things, trying things out, and imagining whether their lives would be better off if they worked extra hours or saved money to afford that item on the shelf—I've seen it! And it's not exactly like Best Buy doesn't have the staff quantity or quality to transform their storefront—I've also witnessed this personally. I just don't feel that passion when I walk in the store. A customer is a complete person—an opportunity to develop a mutually beneficial relationship through a lifetime of transactions centered on the wishes of the customer in balance with the ability of the business to accommodate those wishes, all bound by an extremely fragile thread of trust. Overpriced cables (in a dozen nonsensical styles) is an easy way to erode trust. It's like there's no curator, and no unified person-centered purpose,...
Read moreStopped in today after calling to verify price matching could be done. Target and Walmart were out of stock for an item. Drove all the way there, 20 minutes. Went in. Met a nice guy. Jose , found the item but it was not actually in stock at this location. Was a bit upset but Jose told me I could pick it up from Minnetonka. Another hour plus drive but at least I’d get my item same day. They would not use Walmarts online pricing due to it being a 3rd party. I should read the fine print online. Ok no problem every other store and retailer had a much cheaper price. So I asked about this one. No they’re not on our list. This happened to be every other retailer. Finally we get to the other local store Target. This price beat there’s by 14 percent (a common theme) this one also did not show a third party. The manager said no way because they could actually have a 3rd party and just not be posting it. Well if that’s the logic then why would you EVER price match? I asked if me walking out over 13 percent is really happening over a maybe target is using a 3rd party. No answer. Looked at me like I was a piece of garbage. I vow to never and I mean never to use Best Buy again. If you’re thinking of shopping here. Look at the poor reviews. They also under their logic will not match any price. Let’s be honest they’re the highest price anyways on most items. Target laughed when I got there and they heard my story. Honest to goodness the wonderful lady there Rebecca informed me that they get lots of people coming from Best Buy upset. With all the options today of better pricing AND better customer service. Why would anyone come here unless it’s an emergency? Even if I think I need something that day. I will never and I mean never walk into a Best Buy again. Jose was great. His manager treated me like poop on a shoe. Wouldn’t check my phone, had every reply ready for shutting me down without looking into it. Then the silent treatment finally when I asked how they could match anyone’s prices if they just assume that every other person uses a 3rd party even if it isn’t listed!?! Ugh thank you Target! You gained a customer for life. I look forward to my item...
