Editing new updates on this review.
Edit 1: The store purchased dozens of 151 Ultimate Premium Collections for $60 each when they were first released. They are currently selling them for $324.99 because that's what the "market price" says they are. It was not new stock or the reprints; they are the exact same 151 Ultimate Premium Collections they couldn't sell years ago for $129.99 each.
Original review: The only reason this store is still "thriving" is because it's the only LGS for dozens of miles, forcing rural locals to stay "loyal" to this business. They scalp their customer base, and don't care when they do it.
The Bloomburrow release was a major plot point of why this business is not a good one and should not get any of your money, OBJECTIVELY!
Whoever is in charge of pre-ordering product is terrible at their job and they end up hurting the customers when they fail at their job. They constantly change their prices depending on what things are selling for online. At first, they were selling the Squirreled Away deck for $54. The following week, they changed the price to $94 because that's what people were paying for it on TCG Player. They also made the excuse that they couldn't get any more of that deck in. Someone in their pre-ordering department didn't pre-order more and secure more. It was projected for MONTHS that it was going to be a popular deck. It has Chatterfang in it; a very popular Commander choice. MORE DECKS SHOULD HAVE BEEN ORDERED FROM THE GET-GO! And punishing your customers because you can't get more product in is not a good business practice. If that is even what the real story is; they just seem to make every excuse under the sun to continue scalping people. "Oh, we have limited stock so that's why we are charging $100 above MSRP..."
These scalpers paid $107 for ALL FOUR BLOOMBURROW PRE-CONS and now they're selling the Squirreled Away deck for over that amount BY ITSELF! The market price for it has gone down since the initial hype, but it's still priced way above MSRP.
There is a reason GOOD employees can't be kept at this location. They punish their employees when they refuse to manipulate every penny out of their customers. They punish their employees when they end up making the store MORE MONEY, but they did the transaction "incorrectly", (which would have COST THE STORE MONEY). They punish their employees when there's zero sales that day, despite NOTHING except Magic product bringing people in. They pay their employees poverty wages (minimum wage) while making $3k+ on one Friday every month alone on new released Magic cards.
Oh, the latest 5 Star reviews? One is from the current employee, who's been instructed by the owner's wife to do everything he can to make them look good. And the 2nd one is the owner's female friend. They're fake reviews trying to drown out the negative reviews, like this one.
Every few months it seems, their book prices for DVDs, pre-owned games, et cetera, increase. A pre-owned game that sat on the shelf for 2 years is now $2 more than the previous price. How is that a good business practice? They already paid pennies on the dollar for these items and now they have the audacity to ask for more? This isn't GameStop.
They base every single item off of TCG Player or whatever people are currently paying for an item. The minute a deck, a card, a game, or anything else, increases in "market price," they are quick to change that pricing sticker to reflect the change.
They do not care about their customers. They care about money....
Read moreVery small game store. Owners are greedy with prize support for events. Stuff is waaaay overpriced compared to TCGplayer and other card game sites. It has also moved locations multiple times, including a private home. The owners also let a CHEATER play at the store, he bullied other players into actual tears and always won tournaments and such. The owners didn't throw him out because he spent so much money there. Thank God he eventually moved away...
Read moreI just wanted to drop my rating here to help this store out in a small way. It isn't very large and doesn't have a whole lot. But they offer a diverse selection, a little bit of many categories, for their size. It isn't a one-stop-shop but it has potential to grow! I didn't check out their tournaments yet but perhaps some day I'll come up. Give this...
