Afghan Market — Local services in St. Louis

Very good store, but some improvements need to be made. Nice selection of hijabs and abayas for sisters like me. Overall, not a bad place of business, but needs inventory, organization, and customer service work.

Need a worker patrolling the aisles who can speak and understand English better. [Yesterday I asked if they had prayer mats, and he pointed me in the direction of large area rugs.] Halal meats, sodas, and some herbs, candies, sweet and savory food mixes are overpriced. I dislike how they have hookah bongs in the window. Muslims do not smoke. The shop should be decluttered more and more of the bedroom and clothing goods on full racks, folded up neatly on real shelves, and things nor constantly strewn about and hard to walk through and navigate. Their acceptance of EBT cards is great, but I only get so much on my card per month. I bought lamb, it had no expiration date, and turns out, it spoils very quickly. These need to be dated. Should have wider selection of candies. Bosnian candies are also very good brands, and I could not find the candy or chips...

I travelled for more than an hour to buy halal products from this store. I purchased chicken shami kebab and Chapli kebabs by Mezban, which to me seemed over charged but I purchased it anyway. Last week I opened the chicken shami kebab box and it see smelled very very bad and rotten I trashed it rightaway. And today when I opened the Chapli kebabs there was fungus grown over it (see the attached photo), this forced me to put this comment to general public to beware while purchasing the refrigerated products from this store. May Allah give the store owner hidayah from cheating people.

I will never visit this store...

I traveled very far and skipped many stores to go to their store just to have a bad experience. Everyone else seemed nice but the older guy at the front with all white hair seemed racist and rude about a hijab that looked like it’s been tried on many times and had stains on it, I needed that specific color for an event the next day, so I asked for a discount and he rudely said no and took it back. I went next door to the other afghan market and they were very sweet and helped me with what I needed. Definitely sticking to going to them...
