Fares is THE place to go for antique furniture repairs!
When we moved from Europe, our movers managed to damage 90% of our antique and modern furniture. Pieces of chairs were broken off, drawers crushed, scratches and cracks everywhere. We were concerned at finding a craftsman who would be able properly repair our early 20th century items.
Jonathan and his team, however, put those concerns to rest. The Fares team did amazing work while also being honest with us of what was doable. Jonathan admitted that sadly some damages weren’t necessarily reparable or wouldn’t look original.
The work they were able to do was top notch. A sheared off curved finial on a chair was hand carved based on its mate and while not perfect, it’s not noticeable beyond 5 feet and likely the best possible outcome. While this item took a bit longer to receive back, it was due to the carpenter’s attention to detail as he took multiple attempts to carve a new finial and wanted it to look right.
The drawers on a large desk that were broken off and jammed into their supporting brackets were completely repaired with no loss of functionality. Jonathan’s team included an engineer who made sure there wouldn’t be any functionality issues with this piece.
A vanity with scratches all across it was refinished to look near brand new. Numerous other items with smaller repairs were restored to their prior condition with excellent attention to detail and reasonable cost.
Jonathan’s team took care when moving items in and out of our house, with not a scratch to the furniture or the house. His team were always punctual and courteous too.
Ultimately, Jonathan and the Fares team helped us navigate a disastrous amount of damage and provided excellent restoration of our furniture. They were reasonable, courteous, and did outstanding work. I wouldn’t hesitate to have them work on any other...

We reached out to a number of upholstery places in the St. Louis area and included pictures of the furniture as well as measurements & drawings of the cushions as part of our inquiry. Jonathan was the only one who did not seem inconvenienced by a prospective new client. He proactively called on the phone to discuss his initial quote before emailing it, and then arranged to come to our house to look at the pieces in person. By doing that, he was able to get a feel of their positioning in our living space and for our taste in design.
We had a midcentury couch & chair in need of new cushions and a craftsman Morris chair that was missing its cushion. We wanted to keep all three pieces true to their vintage & style, and Jonathan respected that desire. He was extremely helpful and patient as we hunted for the perfect mid-century fabric.
The Fare's team delivered a quality product with great attention to detail. These pieces were built to last and we are thankful that Jonathan helped us give...
