This is the best pizza in town, full stop. Everything about Pizza A Go Go is sublime. The restaurant itself exudes a hip, no-nonsense, ‘60s and ‘70s neighborhood cool - which in itself is a great part of the experience - but make no mistake, it broadcasts a clear, multi-generational expertise in high-end pizza making that hits you the second you step in the door. It’s all about making the best pie that money can buy. This joint is run the way everything in the world ought to be run - by polite, direct, and professional craftsmen, and the product of these traits, for half a century now, is a world-class Neapolitan pie that’s not only the best in town, but is as tasty and authentic a pizza as you could find anywhere in the country (take it from a a native St Louisan who’s also a former ten year resident of Manhattan). Read morePizza-A-Go-Go is, hands down, my favorite pizza in St. Louis, and one of the top three I've had in the USA. My wife and I have "Pizza Night" on Thursdays and try different St. Louis pizzerias or frozen pizzas each week, but we always find ourselves going back to Pizza-A-Go-Go. The crust is perfect; It's hand-tossed, not too thin like other STL-style crusts, and not too thick and doughy. The sauce is zesty and not too sweet. The toppings, both meat and veggie, are fresh, delicious, and generously applied, but not overloaded to weigh down the pizza. My wife and my Mom love the veggie special and really enjoy the mushrooms. My Dad and I really like the meat special, especially the sausage and Canadian bacon. The place itself is quaint and unassuming. The owner Paul and the workers are nice and down-to-earth. They have a fridge you can keep your beer cold in if you decide to BYOB (they do not sell alcohol). Have a pizza, and then stop by Muser's Pub catty-corner or Babe's Tavern down the street. Vinnie's Italian Beef and Gyros is delicious also. If you want to check out a super "killer" guitar shop, Killer Vintage is right across the street. This corner (Ivanhoe/Scanlan) and the Ivanhoe strip give off some serious laid-back, old-timey, South City vibes. ...
