I had been wanting to try this place for quite some time. Being from San Antonio I am always on the lookout for good Mexican food. For whatever reason, this place looked like it might be good. I will tell you that our experience was quite underwhelming. First off, the place place itself is quite generic in decor and it's not that it's dark inside, but I would say poorly lit. It older and that's ok, some of the best places I have eaten Mexican food have been what I call a "hole in the wall". This time however, the food does not make up for the other shortcomings. It's not the the worst I have ever eaten, but it was just very bland. Also, the kids meals were a bit of a joke One of my sons ordered a burger (I know, it's a mexican place) but that's what he wanted. It came wrapped in foil as if we ordered at a baseball game. It looked like it had sat for a while. A game burger might have been better. The service was ok, but you kind of felt that they could take it or leave it that you were there. The only saving grace was that they had Pacifico on tap, which I have never seen before. I thought it was pricey for what it was. Not sure we would go back. Not because it was that bad, but because I probably won't think about it since it didn't leave that great of an impression. I would say this place is good for a happy hour and some appetizers It's a shame, I had high hopes...
Read moreGot the carnitas, they were dry chunks of pork with no seasoning. The chimichangas, just had shredded chicken inside. No onions or peppers or any other thing that could be in there. Just fried tortilla wrapped around a half chicken breast shredded up. But the worst was the Carmen special... The burrito and enchilada was coated in some crappy sauce that tasted like watered down tomato soup, or cooked ketchup, literally made them inedible. The chalupa was a soggy ass corn tortilla with no meat, just beans, lettuce, and cheese. The Chile relleno(stuffed pepper) literally had no pepper. It was like a weird massa breading, around a pile of white American cheese, and some meat that looked like it was eaten last week. But no pepper... Not even diced peppers. The chips were definitely cooked last week and reheated... Unfortunately, they were the best tasting thing with the salty ass tub of salsa. It was $87 of crap. Literally $18 in taxes on 3 items and chips and 2 sodas. Then the delivery fee ontop of that. I am Mexican. This is a slap in the face to my ancestors. Do not call this authentic anything. Its disgusting. To my great misfortune I can't give this negative stars. I legit had 4 day old jack in the box tacos once, that were left unrefridgerated on the counter in my hotel the whole time, and it was better...
Read moreUPDATE: I wrote that review after 2 visits! Now that we have been going there for almost every week, I feel I need an update. The waiters and waitresses are SUPER rude and they don't care at all! They barely check up on you, only one of them is good, you must be lucky to get that guy as I was at those 2 first visits. They randomly will over-charge you $2 for margarita (note that, exactly the same thing, the same size), and when you ask why, they say the price of alcohol has raised (lmao), what the heck? Just avoid this restaurant, as I'm not gonna ever go there! I gave them many chances, but very disappointed. Despite the other reviews being hit or miss, I like this place! The waiters are not overly talkative, but when you get to talk to them a bit more, they are very nice and friendly. I always order their Caldo de Camaron (Shrimp soup), which is a MUST to try! And their margaritas that come in many different flavors (watermelon, mango, peach, raspberry, banana, ...) are great. The pricing is fair,...
