I like this store and the past few times I've been there I had great service. However, today I went in to get 2 of a specific item for my classroom and house (the Kallax 4x4 shelf unit in birchwood.) I saw that they had the exact item I wanted reduced from $109 to $59 and was super excited. I checked to make sure it was in stock before I went down to the box area and the website said they had 6. I went down there and the shelf was empty.

My mom went to talk to the 6 customer service representatives that were chatting and talking by the 2 computers while I looked in other areas for the item. They just said they had some in stock but it would have to wait until the next day because "the employees can't leave the floor."

They went back to talking and joking around with each other. My mom called corporate because it didn't make sense that the customer service reps couldn't leave the floor. We understood if they couldn't get them down because it would take a forklift and is not safe to do during the day, but they gave her short responses and didn't answer her question about the website saying 6 were in stock.

The first corporate person she talked on the phone with said that they can leave the floor, but that if it was an airdrop (forklift) then they couldn't get it. However, she said they had 20+ for airdrop, but they did have 6 in store on the floor according to inventory. She then advised us to try getting more help, and then try to get a manager. Because the employees were still standing around socializing and were curt with her to begin with, my mom went to a cashier and asked to talk to a manager. The cashier cut my mom off when she was trying to explain what was going on and said that there could have been 6 on the floor this morning but they could have all sold out and it hasn't updated yet. Then said "all our managers are busy so you can't talk to any of them."

We decided to just get what we already had in our carts and left. My mom tried calling corporate again and that woman said that there were none in the store and that you couldn't order the item online. I looked up the item again while my mom was on the phone with her and saw that inventory, an hour after I first checked, still stated 6 on the floor, and that yes you can order it online. However, you can't order it online for the sales price.

I am very displeased with the customer service. They seemed more interested in talking together about football then...

This company is unprofessional and incompetent in their ability to resolve this issue in a timely manner and to accurately document and communicate the issues interfering with delivering my now 3 day late order. Here is a summary of my nightmare interactions with this logistics company and IKEA who both deserve ZERO stars (I had to choose 1 star to post) for their mismanagement of this order.

Incident Overview: On Wednesday, 9/11/24, I was informed via email by IKEA that my scheduled delivery could not be completed due to my alleged failure to answer a phone call and my absence from the premises. Both claims are factually incorrect as I received no missed calls and was present at home, with a clear view of the front door, and no delivery truck arrived.

Initial Resolution Attempt: IKEA proposed rescheduling the delivery for the following day, Thursday, 9/12/24. However, I had prearranged for TaskRabbit to assemble the furniture the next day, necessitating the timely delivery of my order. Despite my efforts to clarify the situation, IKEA insisted on the false narrative of an attempted delivery.

Communication with RXO: Multiple communications with RXO revealed that the delivery was not attempted due to an incomplete order. This critical information was not documented in their records. Subsequent inquiries on Thursday, 9/12/24, confirmed that the delivery had not been rescheduled, contradicting previous assurances.

IKEA’s Response: After a 30-minute discussion with IKEA customer service, it was confirmed that no voicemail was left as claimed. IKEA refunded the delivery fee and assured delivery on Friday, 9/13/24.

Continued Issues: On Friday, 9/13/24, I contacted IKEA again and was informed that my order was not on the delivery truck due to RXO’s failure to scan the order. This repeated failure to deliver and the dissemination of false information is unprofessional and unacceptable.

Conclusion: I demand the immediate rectification of this issue by the end of the day. The persistent mismanagement and falsehoods regarding the delivery process are unacceptable. I expect a competent resolution to this matter without...

I swear I reviewed this Ikea years ago. Okay so this Ikea is the only Ikea in St. Louis that makes it the ideal Ikea, if only for the fact that I live here. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The store is easy to navigate, especially if you know the shortcuts. The only thing that I have against them is number one the cost of tea lights has gone up precipitously over the years. I know that this is just inflation but I buy the tea lights 600 at a time. I need my glimma.

The other thing that I find to be a net negative attribute of this Ikea is after the pandemic they went cashless. They also moved entirely to self-checkout. Sometimes this leads to longer lines than you would like, but it's okay. As long as you have a card.

Really the best part about it is the fact that it's Ikea. I don't know if it got out that Ikea is always busy at a certain point of day, especially on weekends. But if you show up early on like Saturday or Sunday it is oddly less busy than you would expect. These are prime times. Sometimes the Cafe at the end of the checkouts is not in service and these are the times when I consider removing a star from this review because the one thing that I need after walking through the panic attack that is an Ikea. Note I just described it as a panic attack yet I love it. I am a slave to the Ikea nesting instinct. I need that Frozen yogurt cone. Without it, I'm going to be disappointed for the rest of the day.

However, I do like the new ordering system, even though I do like bantering with people.

Take the whole family. Just don't walk slow in front of me. I know where I'm going and I know what I'm looking for. Most recent purchases include a dining room table, multiple bookshelves, okay I'm going to end this here cuz like I'm just looking around my apartment. There's way...

Worst IKEA I have ever been to. Was searching for storage (shelves/cabinets), and we found several that we liked, but nearly all of them were out of stock. We have visited IKEA twice within 4 months for a specific cabinet, but it has is out of stock and still NOT maked as unavailable. It has been unavailable for nearly 5 months after asking a manager the first time we visited, and it still is not marked as so. It is incredibly frustrating. By the way, right now it seems like more than 25% of the store is out of stock. Even though nearly all the ones we liked were out of stock, we found one we liked. Luckily it was the last one. However the disappointments didn't stop there. There was one checkout lane open. We made it there right before the line grew to about 8 parties long. It took so long, and we were second up. I cant imagine how long the others waited. I was extremely annoyed at this point because walking on the floors there was no one in areas we needed help in, then there were too many in areas that no one was shopping in, plus I saw a number of representatives on the floor on their cell phones, then to have to wait for a single checkout lane. My boyfriend is also a disabled vet, and no one offered to help us take the cabinet we bought to the car. There weren't even people around for us to ask for help. On the bright side, I found white castle coupons in a display room I can use.
