Overall this place was good. The absolute best part and best deal is the Sweet potato tacos which come in a pair rather than single like the rest of the tacos. They had fantastic flavor, especially considering I'm not a huge fan of sweet potatoes. Everything else was just okay. I really love that they had multiple vegetarian options, but they weren't anything to write home about. The tofu and jackfruit tacos were both super lackluster. They had very similar seasoning so they tasted almost exactly the same, they were both very wet and they weren't prepped like these folks knew how to handle tofu and jackfruit as well as a vegetarian might. In other words, I can make better jackfruit tacos at home. I felt the lemonade was too sweet tho I did drink it all. The whole thing was very expensive. The total cost was over 30 dollars for a lemonade with popping boba and four tacos. I would return but only for those amazing sweet potato tacos and nothing else.

I had the buffalo chicken burrito I think, and I liked it. It was hot, had great rice texture, flavorful, and a crispy burrito. Definitely recommend. The salsa was not what I expected. I didn't read the description of the salsa (if one existed). It tasted strongly of Mae Ploy. Did have some Mexican hints though. I need to complain about the cost, though. I think the burrito needs to be $10-$12, considering the size. If you disagree, please look up what you can get at a Vallarta Express in San Diego, CA for the same cost. I feel like this is a good comparison. I also was not a fan of the chips and salsa. I felt like I got stale Tostidos with salsa that didn't really work with the chips alone. But do give it a try. You might like the combo. Salsa worked better with the burrito, however. I paid about $25.41 for what you see in the picture.

Based off all the high reviews for Kalbi, I will say I was a little disappointed. We ordered a variety of tacos and a side of Kimchi. I'm not sure how to describe the kimchi other than it wasn't as strong (lacking in flavor?) as other places I had it and would pass on it if I were to return. I went with my wife, so between the two of us we tried most of their tacos (Beef Short Rib, Spicy Chicken, Spicy Pork, Tofu, Chicken Teriyaki). The tacos were all very flavorful, and I really liked the spicy chicken and spicy pork which had a very sweet sauce. However, the tortilla was too big and ended up taking away from the great flavor inside. I probably wouldn't order the tacos again for that reason, but the flavor of everything was very good. I'd like to give them another chance and try a burrito next time.

Basically their menu does not reflect what it actually costs. What they write on the wall does not match what rings up on the receipt. They claim sweet potato is expensive and justifies charging 1.75 extra. On top of this for their bowls they charge 2.75 for "veggies" which is basically just some carrots and lettuce. Very very expensive for what you get. They also dont state there is the option of removing vegetables, its basically an upcharge they dont tell you about. The owner was apologetic somewhat but defended the 1 dollar upcharge for ensuring no cross contamination, sorta on you to not cross contaminate honestly but the charge wasnt disclosed beforehand. So a sweet potato veggie bowl in a counter serve fast food setting is 16.25. just very expensive for what it is. Less ingredients than a qboda bowl but at least 5 dollars more. I think it was the owners daughter told me very rudely she was tired of dealing with the vegan items and would discontinue them, as if me questioning these charges was the final straw, real nice customer service. The owner did acknowledge the menu should explain the full price better but did not refund anything or offer any remedy but the daughter was very rude about it basically telling her mom to not bother talking to me about it. Sad because the food is decent but its definitely got issues. Sorry to say because I don't normally leave bad reviews. Would have forgiven the confusing and misrepresented menu if they did me any sort of courtesy refund of the upcharge or simply were...

I have wanted to come here ever since I saw the chalk sign outside on my way down Cherokee one morning. I kick myself for not stopping that day because it has taken me too long to get in and try this amazing food. I knew it was fusion. I knew it was Asian and Mexican, but I didn't know what to truly expect. I got way more than any expectation that I could have asked for,

First off, they have boba tea. This is a love or hate thing but the fact that I don't have to trek all the way to the loop to get a decent boba is a huge plus. But the drinks were just an added bonus, the real boon here was the food. I got a Beef Short Rib Rice Bowl that was just top notch. And while this was definitely more of an asian take on everything, the meat was prepared with more of a a mexican flair. My girlfriend on the other hand had a sweet and spicy pork quesadilla. I never would have pegged these flavors to go together but the empty plate was a testament to how good the entire dish was.

I really like the vibe of the place and the clientele was diverse and very representative of Cherokee Street in general. A couple people even came in talking about the business places they were opening in the area, which speaks volumes to me about the sense of community these business owners have. The will to succeed, a family-like atmosphere, and outstanding food makes this a place I will gladly spend money at any day...

We had a large lunch event catered by Kalbi Taco Shack and I am so glad that we did. The price was extremely reasonable, the owner was extremely kind and helpful, and worked with us in a helpful, respectful, and timely manner, to provide VERY delicious, professionally presented, consistently boxed and well-made quality rice bowls with fresh ingredients at a very reasonable price. Everyone at our lunch event thought the food was delicious and wants to return to Kalbi Taco Shack on their own in the future. We will definitely consider Kalbi Taco Shack when we need events catered in the future. Everyone was respectful and went above and beyond to work with us for our event. They are a great business to work with and I would highly recommend either for a delicious meal at the Foundry, or for catering any event where you need delicious and beautiful rice bowls for your guests. Thank you Sue for a great lunch that everyone loved! You made our event a success! Our organization will definitely consider purchasing catering from you again for...
