Georgian Manor — Local services in Sterling Heights

I rented here for 2 years, the first year was going fine, until staff went into my home without me knowing! They didn't leave a note, or call or anything. Three men that worked there just walked into my apartment, luckily my mother was visiting and taking care of my dog while I was at work and saw them enter the home, they apparently saw her and my dog, didn't explain anything and shut the door and left. She told me what happened and I called the office the next day. Cynthia told me on the phone; "Oh, you didn't schedule them to come in to fix anything?" I said no. She said "Well, I don't know why they did that. I'll call you tomorrow once I've checked that out." Never called me back. Never got a reason.

They also would constantly put up notices to enter our apartments at a specific date and time (very early in the morning, by the way) to paint, then never show up, and would leave the notes up for months. Then, we would get another note saying they're going to enter into our apartment again at a different time. I would take time off work just to be there when someone would want to enter my home, just for them to never show up. Super infuriating.

A neighbor was telling me that the prior year, tenants had been complaining about the breezeway doors not locking (they still never lock. Someone actually busted our breezeway door lock open and they never fixed it) and finally the staff decided to get new keys and new locks for the breezeways, but LOCKED the doors while they were all at work, and stuck the NEW keys to the tenants doors. So when they got off work, they couldn't get into the breezeway because the locks were changed, and they looked through the windows and saw the tape with the keys on their doors. And by that time the office was closed, so they had to call the emergency line to get them to open the doors. The tenants got no email, no knowledge that this was going to happen. Completely unprofessional.

Then sometimes they would just randomly paint the beautiful hardwood in the breezeway black? I have no idea why we didn't get a say in if we wanted our doors and railings to be painted, but it was sad to see them do it. Especially because they were already starting to chip paint and you can now just see bright orange wood under black chipping paint. Looks really bad.

One time the laundry card system on the office building went out, instead of flipping a breaker switch in the office, they told me it 'isn't their problem' the laundry card system wasn't working, and that I need to call the number on the laundry system card myself to ask what's wrong. Even though it was easy to tell there was a breaker switch that needed to be flipped in the office. Tried telling her that, she did not care. I had to be late for work because my laundry wasn't done.

Then when I finally wanted to move out because they raised my rent, I went to the office and asked if I could get a copy of my second years lease. They started freaking out because they couldn't find it. It apparently didn't exist! She had to re-print it for us and everything. She also had us sign our lease without us being able to read it first. First years rent was 1270 then it jumped to 1580... That's when I realized I had to move out because I finically could not afford to live there. Especially when it is not worth the price. And considering they make tenants here pay for trash, water, sewer, it's too much.

I've never seen an apartment complex spend so much money on useless crap and not pay the utilities for tenants.

Also, the pool closes super early. It's always dirty too. They close it even if it's going to...

Update: I'm here now a little over two months, and unfortunately the quality of my stay here has drastically declined. They went from 4 to 1 star thanks to management. I've had a few issues with management and they are nothing but rude, condescending, and unhelpful. I tried reaching out to quality assurance to resolve the issue, and I received the same treatment. Completely disrespectful!!! As a tenant who pays her dues on time, keeps to herself, and is friendly with anyone she encounters, I deserve much better treatment. It doesn't matter what the issue is, management should act much more professionally than they are/have been. The apartment itself is okay, aside from the fact that the walls are pretty warped and uneven.. I didn't notice at first, but decorating certainly revealed that secret. There's even a big gap at the top corner of my bathroom doorway because everything is so uneven.

From the moment I walked into the office, I have had nothing but great customer service thanks to Melinda! She does everything she can to uphold great communication and to ensure my stay is as pleasant as possible. Georgian Manor lost one star only because I will say that management was quite delayed in confirming a move in date and returning paperwork, but I understand things happen. My apartment feels pretty spacious despite it being just a one bedroom, has a LOT of natural light, and my storage unite downstairs is pretty big for just one person. Appliances look a little dated, but I couldn't care less about such things. When I first moved in, everything was nicely cleaned and freshly painted. I will admit, the laundry and storage rooms downstairs are a tad creepy, and the doors are heavy so they will close shut. However, I don't see any signs of filth, bugs, mold, or danger :) Water and Sewage is included. There's an in ground pool, too. We're also close to a lot of stores, restaurants, movie theater, and major roads like Mound and 16 mile without having the obnoxious traffic (except recently due to heavy construction right on 15 mile between...

This place is a absolute dump! Lived here for a year and couldn’t wait to leave! When I moved in the place was disgusting i waited two weeks they said they were going to paint so I had to wait I walked in to a dirty walls hand prints bunch of like splashes on the walls I took pictures and videos right away sent it to the office and their response was I’m sorry we can pain it this week so I painted my self! I had a headache for a week wasn’t feeling well then found out I had a gas leak their maintenance told me if I stayed another day I could of been dead and they didn’t care at all not even a phone call or I’m sorry I have it all in records! Garbage disposal broke they came in left a note told me not to use the garbage disposal they didn’t even change it! I had a neighbor upstairs who just moved in and was constantly partying I called them they didnt care !! Office is so ghetto so unprofessional they just want to collect money believe me when I tell you I have everything on record and they are horrible. Pool is never open they have been saying it will be open every week nope it wasn’t. They won’t ever come fix anything they don’t care so if you planning on moving there don’t!
