CREATE Portage County — Local services in Stevens Point

Create is not your grandma's community arts organization (but grandma will love it too). This place is a wild ball of creative energy, always inspiring, pushing boundaries, expanding. This week alone, there was a live art-making event using Crossfit equipment, a life drawing session, an Open Studio session, a blow-you-away microcinema event with the Milwaukee based artist present to answer questions and give advice. And there's more: They are bridging the university and the community with a UWSP student-run art show tonight, and they've booked a famous comedy group performing at the best theater in town. And that is all just this week!

They bring together computer programmers, tech companies, artists, professionals, families, community developers, DIYers, videographers... I know I'm forgetting some. If you want to find others to enjoy a hobby or professional pursuit with you, this is the place to start. If you need some inspiration, or some community bonding - this is the place to go. I don't work at Create, but the nights that I am enticed out of my home are almost always for a Create event, because they are always so worth it. If you are still wondering exactly what they do or can do for you, call or email them - they are very friendly and responsive.

Also, the Idea Center(this map location) is both their office and a community creative space that you should definitely stop by and check out. It is where many of their events take place, and a wonderful meeting place that you can reserve for your own events...

As someone who used to live in the cities, I don’t recall having anything quite like Create Portage County’s Levitt AMP events. I’m absolutely amazed by what this organization does for the community. They’ve created something truly special by bringing people together through music, and it’s incredible to see such vibrant energy in our town.

These events are so much fun! The music is always fantastic, and the atmosphere is so welcoming and uplifting. One of my favorite parts is the variety of food available, especially the great selection of food trucks. It’s always exciting to try something new or enjoy a favorite dish while soaking in the amazing performances.

I genuinely look forward to these events every summer. They’ve become a highlight of the season for me, and I’m counting down the days until the Levitt AMP series is back. Thank you, Create Portage County, for enriching our community with these...

In my opinion, Create Portage County is one of the most dynamic and influential organizations in the community. As a creator and community-oriented individual, the resources and opportunities they provide -- from creative co-working spaces and artist meetups to concerts and live events -- go a long way to making Stevens Point a community that I intend to live in for a long time. I would highly recommend a Create membership to everyone -- particularly creatively-oriented individuals, or those looking to build/foster communities around their interests.
