Captain Garrett goes “All In” and always produces fish I have traveled to Key West at least once a year to go offshore fishing for the past 6 years and have had the opportunity to fish with Captain Garrett on several occasions. When I found out he had purchased his own boat, I knew he was going to be very successful. Not only is Captain Garrett one of the best fisherman I have ever met, he’s a very patient and down to earth individual who loves what he does and really wants you to catch fish and have a great time.
This year when I came down to Key West, I specifically wanted to catch a Permit. When we got out on the water it was obvious to me that not only weren’t conditions great for fishing in general , they were even worse for catching Permit. The current was very strong and the visibility in the water was less then 10 feet. Normally this time of year you can locate the Permit in big schools spawning but because the current was so strong and the water wasn’t clean the schools could not be located. This did not stop Captain Garrett from putting some fish in the cooler nor stop him from helping me finally get my Trophy Permit
Fortunately Captain Garrett has an advantage over most Captains. This is because he also free dives and spear fishes on many of the wrecks that he likes to fish. Therefore has a better idea what lurks below.
After getting 2 impressive mutton snapper and the biggest black fin tuna I have ever seen caught in the cooler it was time to find my Permit.
Not only did he put me on a Permit, it was the biggest one he said he has ever seen caught in Key West. After pulling me all over his impressive center console SeaVee for 10-15 minutes we finally got the beast of a fish in the boat for a couple of nice pictures and then sent him back into the beautiful waters of Key West to fight another day.
Thanks for a great day fishing! I’m already looking forward to coming back down to fish with you again and knock a few more species off my bucket list. Hope to see you...
Read moreI have been on this charter a couple times and, while each trip had its differences, "All In" overall offers an experience that is both exciting and rewarding. Captain Frey was ready and willing to answer any question I had; from wildlife I saw in a distance to how to put a new hook on the line, he really knows what he is doing. Before going on the charter, I thought catching different types of fish was just luck, but there is so much more to it. I now know the basic differences needed to catch a Black-fin Tuna versus a Snapper. The ever-changing weather wasn't an issue either. Captain Frey knew where to go and what to catch depending on the weather and current. I'm not the strongest person, but his constant guidance and encouragement made me feel unstoppable. I felt extremely successful by the end of the day having pushed beyond what I thought I could do and ultimately catching the biggest fish of the day (both trips :D). Beyond just fishing, being on the water really is the best way to spend a day in Key West. I got the chance to see sea turtles, dolphins (apparently not so good when trying to catch fish, but still exciting), jellyfish, sharks, stingrays, and manatees. 100% would recommend and I look forward to going on many more trips with Captain...
Read moreCaptain Garrett was the man. I looked around a bit before deciding on him but he was knowledgeable, personable, and a great guy to spend the day with. We had a blast fishing several shipwrecks and catching all sort of fish. Captain Garrett will walk you through even the mechanics of fighting a huge fish on the line and he’s got all the gear and expertise to make you day a success. We had a blast and I would absolutely return for another charter day next time I’m in the Keys. We caught a sand bar shark, a couple big amberjacks, a yellowtail, a bonito, and several barracudas. We also saw a giant loggerhead swinging around as well as a huge hammerhead that must have been over 8’. Captain Garrett even gave us a great suggestion for lunch at Hurricane Hole to meet our buddies after golf with the fresh...
