Unpleasant shopping experience at Kohl's.
My wife and I said hello to a cashier on our way in and asked for the way to the customer service area because we had an item we wanted to return for Amazon. She directed us, and we went ahead and returned the package in less than 3 minutes. The customer service representative gave us a tracking code and told us we would get a 20% discount on our next purchase. We walked through the shop just looking for Christmas decorations, and the next thing we knew, we started picking up clothes, hats, handbags, and key chains, which was something we hadn't planned for. To my surprise, while deciding on the number of handbags I wanted to get for my wife, the first cashier we saw at the entrance came to the jewelry rack next to where we stood and started acting as if she was shopping. I forgot she was the cashier until after getting the handbags when we moved to the makeup section, and she still followed us, but this time with another employee. We were done shopping, and we went to the payment counter, and she still came to stand directly behind my wife and me and was looking at me suspiciously. The funny part was that after it was our turn to go to the next counter she miraculously got called to come to the next counter on the direct opposite side of where we were being attended to, monitoring us. This is a clear sign of racial profiling, which shouldn't be tolerated in any establishment in this current century, talk less of Kohl's. The cashier that checked us out was very pleasant and notified us about Kohl's cash and showed us how to get more discount on our next purchase. Mind you we already got 20% off our $244.44 purchase. I don't think I ever want to come to somewhere I'm being monitored or seen as a...
Read moreThis place has really gone downhill! Hardly no new merchandise on the floor. All clothes are jammed and packed onto the clothes rack. I went on 12/27 needing help with a ring. I found no associate on the floor.??? I found one way in the back. Estella. She walked up to the jewelry section. I asked for sterling silver rings. Her response? "Whatever you see on the floor is what we have". ???? Ok. I asked if she could ring up my ring. She gave a look like, "Really????" But did ring me up. I came back the next day wanting to return this same ring on the 12/28. (Older woman in white sweater) I told her I wanted to bring back my ring and put purchase two other items. She kept denying me to do it. She kept saying that a credit first would go ony card and then I would purchase my other items in a separate transaction. I kept explaining to her that I did not want to handle my return like this. Finally another associate came up and told the rude cashier to just give me a Kohl credit and use the same credit on the two items that I want to purchase. Thank you!!!! I'm not understanding why this was made into an issue. When she handed me my receipt, the rude cashier. Before I could even put the receipt in my purse she said for the next customer to step up. Well there was no way for the next customer to fit into the space unless I moved first. This lady was so rude! Gosh who trained her, well you didn't finish your job with this employee. Go back and get this lady some home...
Read moreI like Kohl's. They play this game where they overprice everything, but then it's almost always "on sale" at what is actually a reasonable price, better than the other nice department stores.
But they also vary radically in size. This is a smaller store, it's hard for me to (for example) find dress clothing there I like, one of the few things I shop for in the nice department stores rather than Wal Mart.
The service is okay, but it's also relatively outdated. I brought back some clothing to exchange recently for a better size...but of course they didn't HAVE it in any closer size to mine, because they're small and have a limited selection.
So I tried to use their touch-screen kiosk to order the same clothing in my size. The problem is that their kiosk is ancient and worn out, so the touch screen barely works, and keeps malfunctioning. It ignored maybe 40% of my touches, and I had to learn to aim extra low, because it kept clicking above where I touched. And then, when I was on the final screen for ordering it, the entire thing reset, so I had to start all over again.
The manager was very helpful, though swamped with things to do and harried. But the store itself is old and small.
Also their sign and many of the parking lot lights stay off at night. If I didn't know better, I'd think they are pretending to be closed, to cut back...
