I visited Costco #38 - STOCKTON 1616 EAST HAMMER LANE on Friday 2/28/2025 at approximately 12:15 pm and was greeted at the door when I scanned my card with a very polite āWelcome! Thank You for 25 years of being a member!ā. However, that is where my positive experience ended. When I went to the customer service desk to redeem my credit card reward certificate for my Costco Anywhere Visa Card account I was treated very rudely. I had my printed certificate and ID ready and when I asked to redeem it for cash, I was told that I had to request a direct deposit in the app on my phone because my certificate was over $300. I told the employee that I did not want direct deposit, that I wanted to receive cash instead and that I had received cash in the past for a similar amount. They said that I was mistaken. They then called for a manager and said, āI got another one of those Citi certificates, I need a manager to cut a checkā. This was honestly said in a very disparaging tone. I told the customer service employee that I did not want a check. I then read them the following line from the certificate: āYou can redeem for merchandise or cash at any U.S. Costco warehouse, including Puerto Rico. You can also present your certificate via the mobile appā. They told me that I was incorrect, and that Costco does not give cash for certificates over $300. The customer service employee made a call to cancel the cutting of a check while I was standing there and offered no solution. It felt like my 25 years meant nothing!
I left with my rewards certificate un-cashed and drove to the Lodi Costco #1091 ā 2680 Reynolds Ranch PKWY. I entered the store and went to the customer service desk to redeem my credit card reward certificate for cash. I told them that I wanted cash, and I was treated very respectfully. They politely called a manager who brought cash to the customer service desk and redeemed my reward certificate in cash. I am truly astounded at how much better I was treated at the LODI location!!!
My experience at the Stockton store left me questioning if I should be going to Lodi even though it is further and out of my way. I really want to keep supporting my Stockton store, but the level of service I received put a big doubt in my mind. It also took all the fun out of looking forward to; and redeeming my rewards certificate each year!!! I left this information in their comments box with my contact information and management never...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis Costco is shocking on how dishonest they are. I live in Davis and do not shop here however someone was able to use my membership 4 times at this location including stealing my 2% reward check. This occurred in March. When I saw this in April on my account I reported it immediately to both the location near my home and this Stockton location. Woodland tried to be helpful however they got nowhere with the staff at the Stockton location. I contacted them multiple times and they refused to be helpful. Just blamed me for my check being stolen in the mail. However NEVER once accepted any responsibility for the fact that their store allowed someone to use my membership 4 times that wasn't me. They scan cards at the door but don't care that the picture didn't match me. They took a membership check at the till but didn't check ID or notice it didn't match my membership photo. So after speaking to 3 different people at this location, speaking to supervisors in Woodland and Stockton, going in person to address this at the Woodland location, speaking to corporate and being told by Stockton that they would fix this and investigate it if I filed a police report I have still received nothing. I filed both a police report with Davis PD and the US postal service. The police officer contacted the Stockton store and spoke with DEBBIE who was rude and condescending and refused to be of any help. She even refused to help the police at all or even give her last name to the officer. LIKE SERIOUSLY WHAT AM I DEALING WITH?? IS THIS BECAUSE THIS IS AN INSIDE JOB? Who behaves this way when their member has been a victim of theft and fraud?!?!?! I have been a member since 1999 and am shocked at the treatment I have received. I have been a loyal customer and just can't believe the lack of ethics, customer service, community support with working with the police, and failure to accept any responsibility for their mistake. A completely violating experience made worse by the staff at the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreVery busy but that just means they're doing something right. Seems like a very coordinated effort to keep the flow of the masses moving right on thru. You see huge lines but are surprised that you're not standing in line more than a few minutes yourself. That's the biggest relief to me. A nice touch is you can order from the phenomenally priced food court menu, while paying for your 70 inch LED TV, a set of tires for junior's car, and the livingroom furniture set your wife picked out, so it's ready for you to pick up, usually by the time you get everybody out of the store. When I say great prices, peep this, 5 foot long hot dogs and 5 sodas for $7.50 + tax. That's less than $9, family. $5 for five 2-feet-long churros for dessert! Gotta be in the Guinness Book of World Records! That alone is worth becoming a member of Costco, I ain't playin. Ask somebody, I can't think of think better deal on lunch anywhere. We're 5 deep, go most places and its an easy $75 - $80. Heck, my father-in-law is about 6 ft 3, 250 lb and he was satisfied with his lunch. We all sneeze at the same time and I costs me $9 in tissue. There are two lines out there and one of them is dedicated to the well organized such as yourself that paid at checkout. The result, essentialy no waiting in a line to pick up lunch, just show them the receipt and they got you covered. Eat at the benches they provide and by the time you're done with that, not only will you be less than 50 feet from the tire center, they will probably be done installing your tires! Costco gives you an un-costly, time-efficient experience start to finish! Don't forget to fill your tank on the way out. (Great gas...
