I have been client at Peck's since 1992 when I bought my first girlfriend a promise ring. I was 19 years old at the time and had made another purchase from a different jeweler in the Sherwood Mall, but the service after the sale and over all courteousness of the staff was lacking. I was a kid at the time, and they treated me like it, even though this kid dropped $800 cash on a ruby promise ring in 1992. That's a lot of money now, it was even more back then.
As a result of my frustration, I headed to Macy's to see what their selection was like and that's when I noticed Peck's. I walked in, was treated with a warm smile and inviting "Hello, how can I help you?" I gave the obligatory, "I'm just looking response," and a funny thing happened, Louis responded, "I totally understand, would you like to look alone or do you want some company in case you have any questions." Being that I was a sales person even back then, that response had me hooked. A $1000 later, I walked out with a huge smile on my face and a better feeling in my heart.
When I would come back to the store on occasion, Louis would greet me with a cordial, "Mr. Perez, how are you? What brings you in for a visit with us today?" Again, hooked! I wasn't some scrawny kid that was a bother to this guy or to this company because I watched Mr. Fields and his wife Molly do the same thing!
Well, to my chagrin, Louis moved on, but I then developed a working relationship with Nancy Burlo, who would be my sales professional until she retired a few years ago. It broke my heart to see her go, but Jeff, the owner, has been fantastic to work with.
I developed such a strong relationship with those two that all I had to do was call them and say, "I have $600 to spend and want to do a necklace and bracelet ensemble in pink sapphire, put something together, gift wrap it and I'll be there before closing to pick it up." I didn't need to see it. I would pay the cash to Nancy and walk out with a nice birthday or anniversary gift for my wife. It was always perfect.
Fast forward to today. I went through a heart wrenching divorce that was my financial ruin. I went through bankruptcy and was flat on my back a number of years. Jeff still works with me and the level of treatment I receive has not diminished even though the amount I have spent in the last decade has been drastically reduced. I can still call Jeff, Nancy has retired as I mentioned, tell him, "I have $100-150 to spend on my wife (I'm remarried), can you put me something together?" The Sterling Silver necklace and earrings with pink Swarvoski crystals brought my wife to tears because she knows I am in a rebuilding stage and although I'd like to spend the thousands I have in the past, I'm not there yet.
Now, on to you. Jeff and his staff (Beth and Tony) are the right people for you. Whether you are a first time buyer or you are a high roller, Jeff is going to treat you the same. Dignity and respect. If he doesn't have it, he'll get it! If something goes sideways, he'll make it right. Do yourself a favor and stop shopping for jewelry, you've found a home with Peck's. Trust me or trust any of the other 5 star reviews, Peck's is the real deal! Jeff is the real deal! He is in fact Peck Fields' grandson - the same family has been running this store for three generations! That speaks volumes and with that, I am done pontificating. You've found the right place, so stop shopping and buy him or her that one piece that will render them...
Read morePeck's Jewelers is, by a HUGE margin, better than any other jeweler that I've been to in California. If you're within an hour's drive, definitely come here first!
My experience with Peck's: I'm in my late 20s, and was in the market for an Engagement ring for my girlfriend (now fiancé!). Over the past year, I have been to 7 or 8 different jewelers in the Stockton and Sacramento areas. I've been to probably 2-dozen in my lifetime. In December, I found myself at Peck's.
Compared to all other jewelers that I visited this past year, Peck's was leaps and bounds above them when it came to service. Their prices were fair (In the Lincoln Plaza shopping center, their quote was $350 below Gary J Long, and $200 above DeVons for comparable rings). The in-store selection was not as extensive as the other jewelers, and they did not offer a catalog. Their displays weren't "filled to the brim" with different samples either. But while prices and selection aren't jaw-dropping headliners, there are two things that put Peck's on a gilded throne above the rest:
They make all of their rings themselves! Meaning custom orders are a breeze. I showed them three designs that my girlfriend liked, and got the perfect ring designed in less than 30 minutes! (Also, with infinite designs, who cares about in-store selection!)
And
The owner himself is available to assist customers directly, offering his expertise in the field of jewelry and gemology without the pretentious or elitist air that many other jewelers seem to have. Three of the four times I visited the store, he was the one serving customers directly; the one time it was an employee of his, she was very professional, although I did not have technical questions that time, so I cannot speak to her specific knowledge.
All-in-all, and without being more long-winded than I already have, I would recommend Peck's as a first-stop for anyone in the market for ANY kind of jewelry. Service is on the casual side, and there was never any pressure to commit to purchasing anything. Check the other reviews...
Read moreOver 30 years I have chosen Pecks Jewelers as my go to store for my jewelry needs. I started going to Pecks when Ron Fields was running the operation. Regardless of your budget, Ron treated every person with the same dignity and compassion as the next. He made you feel welcome and special. Together Ron and I created several one of a kind pieces and no you don’t have to be rich or have a lot of money to work with Pecks Jewelers in this capacity. It was such a pleasure to work with him. I brag about my experiences with Ron to simply impress upon you the training & skill set that Ron and Rons Dad instilled onto Jeff Fields, who runs the operation today. I remember Jeff, very young at the time (heck I was young too! Haha) shadowing his Dad. I also remember feeling nervous about who would take care of me the same way I had been used to when the time came for Ron to pass the torch. As heart broken as I was when Ron retired I knew Jeff was trained by the best in the Industry. What I didn’t see then was that for years to come Pecks would continue to be my go to jewelry store and Jeff and I would become close friends. A relationship that I respect and value very much today. On multiple occasions Jeff has proven to give me the same superior service, if not better, than that of his predecessors. Jeff and I have also collabed on several one of a kind pieces for myself and my now my daughters for graduation and as of late a custom necklace for my daughters wedding. Not to mention when you walk in the store it is BEAUTIFUL! I recommend giving Jeff and Pecks a chance to work with you. Be it simple or elaborate, whether you have $200 or $50k they will help you with all your needs. Once you’re in the family you’re in and you will keep going back. Give them a shot you...
