I have waited to write my review, and I'm glad I did. We were in Sturgis from June 6-10. On our trip, we stopped at Sturgis Indian to look around. We drove a 2016 Harley Ultra Limited for the last 4 years but, looking to upgrade, I began researching Indian. We found a 2020 Roadmaster Elite and starting talking about a possible trade. We worked with Matt and Dusty (mostly Dusty) and after securing a pretty good deal, decided to think it over. On Monday, June 10th, we stopped back to look at the Elite and another bike that caught our eye. As part of our deal, Indian was going to change out the handlebars. We arrived as soon as they opened at 9:00 and decided within minutes to go with the Elite. Dusty told us they had a cancellation in Service and would be able to get the bike in right away and have the bars changed out by noon. We were headed home, and had an 8 hour drive ahead of us. We told him to do it, and started the paperwork to get the deal done.
Got all the paperwork complete, unloaded our Harley onto a picnic table outside while waiting for the Elite to be ready. Instead of noon, as promised, the Elite wasn't ready until about 2:00pm! By the time we were loaded up and heading out, a storm started rolling in, so we hurried up and got on the road. We finally pulled off in worthington at 11:00 to get a room for the night, finishing the trip home the next day.
Today, we received a certified letter in the mail containing all the "paperwork needed to transfer the title of the motorcycle." Excuse me? We paid $199.00 "documentation fee" when signing the many documents we had to sign! I called and talked to the finance guy, Loren, who explained that they don't transfer the title, that's why "we have lower documention fees than some dealers."
In all my years buying vehicles, never had I been required to transfer the title and obtain plates on my own, especially after paying a "documentation fee" AND completing a Minnesota Application to Title/Register A Vehicle! Hey Loren, if you don't transfer the titles, why did we complete the application for a Minnestoa title???
I am happy with the motorcycle, but the bad taste of Dusty lying about the time we would be there, and Loren not explaining that WE would be responsible to do what MOST ALL OTHER DEALERS do in transferring the title, makes me not recommend Sturgis Indian. Really poor...
Read moreI bought a 2022 Chieftain in June of 2022 and it had a manufacturing flaw which lead to the dealership rebuilding the motor with new case halves in Oct. 22. Within 800 miles it was leaking oil again in another spot and smelled like burning rubber. I was already upset about having a new bike with a rebuilt engine so I traded it and paid another $2500 for another 2022 Chieftain (same model and paint color) they had leftover in April 2023. When I received it it had 0 miles because they didn't even test ride it after the pre-delivery inspection. Within 200 miles during the break-in it had oil all down the underside of the bike because they hadn't tightened the oil filter properly. So in conclusion, I've bought 2 new motorcycles, had a motor rebuilt, have had 3 oil leaks- 2 of which were technician error and the Manager hasn't even so much as apologized for my inconvenience or thanked me for my loyalty after the fiasco with the first bike. I wouldn't believe this situation if it hadn't happened to me. The bike rides great and my sales person provided excellent customer service but I will go to North Dakota or Colorado before spending another penny at this dealership even though I live less than a mile away.
Update: The service manager contacted me AFTER I posted the initial review. I waited a week to update this so I wouldn't say anything rash, but I think I'm more angry. His best suggestions were for me to bring the bike in and he could go through it with me or they could detail it for me. I am trained as a technician for several other brands so I can both wash and work on my own motorcycles. I said maybe they could do my 5k service and he said that should be possible. But after careful consideration and speaking to several of my peers about the situation, I've decided I'm just going to contact a Polaris representative and explain this situation to see what they...
Read moreOk, first off i love my machine. wanted one since I was a kid. Got the opportunity to purchase a chieftain the end of last year. Total dream come true. They gave us 80 points toward a purchase of goodies that I wanted to wait on to see what was important to me besides a shirt. Figured it would help with stage 1 cost or something along those lines. Long story short, I live 3 hours from the nearest Indian dealer. Go to ft Collins and they say points are only good where you purchased. Next trip to Sturgis is of course a few days ago wanting to do pipes and air. I figured since it hasn't been a year since i bought my bike, shouldn't be a problem. Walk into the parts side and were asked when we got it, told "Nope, your points are expired as of Feb 1". Uh, ok. Went to the front computer operator to make sure and she gets the supervisor. We get the "it's on the policies on our website, is there anything else i can help with?" I ask why we weren't told this at time of purchase and she said they could have shipped items to me. I can't tell you the embarrassment that my wife and I felt in the store. For buying a brand new motorcycle from them, and then treated like we were trying to steal from them or something, I will not step another foot in their establishment. I hope others get better service from someone I thought to be more reputable. Ft. Collins Indian dealership is now my store for anything I need. Ryan continues to give us personal, knowledgeable advise, and wants us to be return customers. It isn't just the $80, it is the total disregard for us as customers. I guess we already bought it, so now we don't seem matter as customers in Sturgis. Very disappointing. But, good news for Ft. Collins Motorsports. Be safe out there.
