I began communication with a man named Kent originally. We kept in contact and I even had him shoot me a trade in value on my current vehicle (which was quite low). On Saturday March 23rd I was finally able to make it to Laura. I emailed Kent and hour and a half prior to arrival to let him know we were on our way. Upon arrival we realized that they were very busy so Kent sent us to work with another salesman named Cory. We found and test drove a different jeep from the one I had originally looked at. I loved this jeep and wanted to try to work out a deal. Considering the they had low balled us and this jeep I wanted was a little out of budget I tried to work just a little better deal. They said it wasn't possible. It had been a long day at this point and we were all hungry, so we left. My husband and I had discussed the deal presented to us at the dealership and he asked that Monday I make a call and have out credit ran. On Monday I called Cory and he sent me the credit app to fill out on the jeep. I filled it out and didn't hear anything from the finance person till almost 8 that night. He presented me with an interest rate that I felt was a little inflated. He told me that he would not be in the office Tuesday to look at the chart that would be available if we were approved to find out if he could offer a lower interest rate. He told me that someone else could call me. No one called Tuesday. Wednesday comes and I make a call to the dealership at around 11:30 to find out what was going on. Cory and someone else tell me they were just talking about me and that I am approved for a lower interest rate. They tell me all I have to do is send in my husbands social security card to the bank they had me approved through. On my lunch I went home got his card and faxed it to the bank. I tried to call the dealership but Don was in a meeting so I took matters in to my own hands and called the bank to make sure they received the fax. The bank wouldn't tell me if it was received or not because I was working with the dealership on financing. I then emailed Cory. I was informed that none of my faxes turned out to the bank. I asked Cory if I could just text it to him and they deal with it and he said ok. I was told I was approved at the lower interest rate and to come on over. I shut down the office grabbed my kids and made the hour and a half drive. When we arrived at the dealership at 6 P.M. Cory had most of the paperwork prepared and ready to go. Some of it had to be changed here and there. We signed the papers in prep for the finance portion. When we were done he said there was a line of people waiting to see Don (?) the finance person and that would could take the new jeep to drive around or go grab something to eat. We transferred everything from the old jeep to the new and took the kids to eat because they were starving at 6:30 P.M. We were back at the dealership by 7:15 and still waiting on the finance portion. At 7:45 it was finally our turn. Don (?) told us that the social security card sent in by them still didn't work so he sent it again. He tried to call the bank and said he could not get anyone to answer so he said we will do it the old fashion way. It turns out that it meant he would make two contracts and one would have a higher interest rate that the other and we were to sign both of them in order to take the jeep home to cover the dealerships butt (his words). I said no to this and he went to talk to someone and then came back and said this is the only way we can do it. I said no absolutely not and told him how terrible this whole experience had been in general while my husband loaded our stuff and the kids back in the car. I walked out of his office over to Cory and asked for my title back. He didn't say a word or even make eye contact with me for that matter. I also walked past Kent on the way out who also had nothing to say. No sooner than I had got to my car both salesman had packed up their stuff and were already leaving the lot and the finance person had new people in his office almost as...
Read moreMy wife and I went to purchase a truck at Laura we found on line. The truck was advertised as, NEW 2020 RAM 1500 Big Horn 4x4 Crew Cab 5' 7" Box MSRP $51,460 Sale Price $30,495. I spoke with a gentleman named Keith. I showed him the truck I found on line. He said, I have to ask the sales manager about this truck, I didn't know we had one on the lot with less than 4k miles on it. He came back and said the truck is on another lot I'll go get it. He brought the truck up and we test drove it. My wife and I loved the truck and decided to buy it. We returned to the dealership and keith asked what I thought of the truck. I said, we want to purchase it and we want to put 5k down and finance the rest. He said, ok but I CAN'T SELL YOU THE TRUCK AS ADVERTISED!!! The truck is now $36,995. Keith assured me that that is still a good price for the truck lol!!! I told keith that I was done here and left.
Follow up 1: Thank you for your response, it will be hard to give Laura another chance because I feel as though I lead to believe the truck price was legit. Why was the "transparency in the pricing" only made transparent after I said, I will purchase the truck and want to write a $5000 down payment check? Why not when I 1st showed Keith the truck? Why not after Keith checked the price with the sales manager? Why not before I test drove the truck? Why not after I returned from the test drive and I told keith we like the truck and want put 5k down while standing on the lot? Why did the dealership wait till I was sat down with check in hand to tell me there was a glitch? If i was told there was a glitch throughout any part of the process, I would feel more confident that I was not lead on to believe the advertising price. I can not do business here unless the sale price I was lead to believe is honored! Thank you.
Follow up 2: After speaking with Spencer on 3-2-2021 nothing has been resolved. Correct me if I'm wrong Spencer I'm just going to highlight our lengthy conversation. Spencer told me that what Laura had done to my wife and I was wrong, and had he been in my shoes he would be "livid"! He could NOT tell me why the price was checked by the salesman and the sales manager, and we're led to believe the truck was being sold to us for $30,495 the entire time, until I was ready to hand over money!!! However, Spencer wanted to personally thank me for finding the mispriced truck lol and personally apologize to us. Perhaps I'm just too old school in my character, but when someone is done wrong you make it right, especially in business! I believe that is becoming a trait of the past. We were not offered anything. Honestly, it's hard not to believe the whole thing was an illegal bait switch at this point as the whole thing played out textbook, and the phone call was a (CYA).
Follow up 3: I don't doubt there was some glitch after everything I've been informed of. I do however believe the actual price was withheld from us until I was ready to pay! Is there a disclaimer on that?! The salesman and I discussed putting $500 down and coming back on Monday 3-1-2021 because we had evening plans. Also, he explained that the factory rebates (that brought the truck to $30,495) could change if I didn't purchase the truck today. I said we want it today then, 45 seconds maybe 1 minute later he said, I can't sell you the truck as advertised!!! Perhaps a, we're sorry folks what can we do to make this up to you? How about a smaller discount, how about 1k off any vehicle you purchase, how about a bag of popcorn to go with the "show we made out of you two!" Would have made this "not being a scam" more believable. BTW it wasn't 20k it wasn't 7k it was $6,500. Which I didn't find obviously underpriced especially since it was used as a program vehicle. Hope everyone has a better experience...
Read moreI live in the Kansas city metropolitan area on the west side of Missouri. I looked at all the Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram (CDJR) dealers in the area. There were few to no Ram trucks in the area I was shoping for. So I searched the internet and found Laura CDJR in Sullivan MO. I did go to one local dealership in Independence MO. They had a Ram Power Wagon listed on their web site, just one. When I got there I was told it had just been sold. They tried very hard to sell me a Red Ram 2500 Tradesman I didn't want, and for a price I wouldn't pay (over $48,000) too high for that model and absolutely would not go any lower than the sticker price. After I told the salesman I found the power wagon I wanted at Laura CDJR for a better price than he would consider I showed him a picture of the Ram Power Wagon I wanted and the Laura dealers discounted price shown on line. His response, "You won't buy that vehicle for that price, there are no manufacturers discounts right now!" "Those discounted prices you'll have to qualify for and most everyone doesn't qualify." Appatently that how he's used to doing business!!!
Despite the long drive across Missouri just to get to Laura CDJR in Sullivan I took the chance. During the 4 hour drive I contact Kurt (my sales rep.) over the phone and asked several questions, which he cheerfully answered. I arrived at the Laura dealership late that afternoon and met Kurt face to face. I had two different Ram Power Wagons Laura had listed in mind to consider buying. Kurt showed them both to. I took a quick test drive and then chose the one vehicle I did want to buy. The Laura dealership didn't just have one vehicle with the option (Power Wagon) I wanted they had 5 or 6 to choose from. Kurt quickly handled the paperwork showing me that the vehicle I picked out was being sold to me at the discounted price Laura CDJR published on their website any let me tell you it was a great price👍. The whole team worked late that night so that I signed the loan for my Ram Power Wagon, it was cleaned and preped for delivery to me, and the deal was finalized. The Laura dealership closes at 8:00 pm, however they stayed late to finish my sale and send me off in the vehicle I wanted (at a great price) so I wouldn't have to drive back a second time. I finally shook hand with Kurt and the finance guy (sorry I forgot his name but not how well he treated me) at 9:00 pm that evening and left the Laura dealership in my new Ram Power Wagon with a smile on my face. Now that's hard work and dedication to the consumer. Thank you Laura. It's so refreshing to find that one dealership that sells a product at the advertised price absolutely no surprises and Kurt never once tried to sell me something I didn't want to buy.
Love you guys at...
