This has been one of our regular stops for about 7 years now. It has always been good so much that we always order the Fajitas & the tenderized grilled chicken breast covered in queso cheese dip. Tonight we decided on something lighter & ordered a Taco Salad & Cheese Enchiladas a la carte. First off... the hostess was not friendly, no smile & an obvious bad attitude. Our server however was friendly & prompt! Our orders came out quickly, but sadly were very disappointing. The fajita taco salad was very soggy w/ liquid all around his plate before he had finished & my cheese Enchiladas were lukewarm, cheese not melted. I do not know what was up w/ the red sauce....but not good. I did ask for it to be heated up & our Server had the order remade. It was hot but I only ate one & decided to take home & doctor up the leftovers. Don't know if they have all new staffing, but it's definitely a different feel. The Hostess was just as unfriendly when we left after I asked for a bag to take our containers home. N0 thank you, smile or a have a good night. Nothing! The staff was always so friendly prior so that in itself is concerning. The food definitely was disappointing. We probably will give them another chance since we've been loyal customers for 7 years, maybe it's just new staffing etc. But word of advice....smiles are free & whomever is seating your customers & checking them out needs to set the tone & be smiling & friendly from the moment a customer walks in! If we had not experienced good service & food for the past 7 years....we would not be returning based on this one night. Hope...
Read moreWorst experience I've ever had at anyplace that serves food. We were a large party to start out with and waited 30 minutes for drink orders. Waited another 15 minutes for our orders to be taken. We relocated out of state but return to the area regularly have always been treated well here over the years. This instance wasn't one of them. I will tell anyone who listens to avoid this place like the plague!! So after waiting 45 minutes for our large group with small children orders to be taken we waited an additional hour before we started questioning if we were going to eat! I asked every employee I could find and all said you are next! Yay! An additional 20 minutes later what showed up was a sad excuse for food...absolutely inedible... 10 min later someone asked if I needed anything else and I said the check! Didn't eat any of it paid and left after the poor attempt at a manager yelled at my daughter because she found her food as disgusting as i did. Stay away... Hopefully the sad excuses for management will eventually be replaced.... Place was excellent 5 years ago...service, food, all were great. Hope my experience was outside the norm but I can't see that being the case under the staff and leadership I encountered. Horrible experience. So called manager absolutely disrespectful. Even hostile....
Read moreMy experience at El nopal was not good. The waitress was confident (which is amazing.) However, when YOU are a busser/waitress at ANY restaurant (not just El nopal,) it is not smart to ignore the tables you are bussing or even serving and than expect a good tip (which is what servers live off of in the career field.) Also, when people walk in to a sit down Mexican restaurant (waiting for a table) IS a polite thing to do, but not every person that walks in YOUR Restaurant to eat is going to be polite. Its especially NOT RIGHT for the server to charge any person extra money on top of the dip itself. We got salsa verde, and our waitress charged us $2 extra than the actual price itself. The food could have been better, it is not smart to put California veggies in the meal, especially at a Mexican restaurant. The cooks need more supervision and training (honestly whatever it takes) to keep being successful and thriving. The meats and veggies were not cooked to be well done, not only were we overcharged for our meal and also the dip — our service sucked. Parking is a must, that should be considered and a not inclosed parking lot. If YOUR employees are not willing to work for the company AND also serve your customers and city, YOU should not be working for...
