We went in today to look for decor items and furniture for my daughter's room and my library. My daughter was waiting with her aunt while I ran into the restroom. Someone who works there (older woman with short, red hair,) approached my 8 year old instead of the adult she was with and told her to the put ceramic dice (that she wanted to buy for her room) down because "your mom doesn't want to pay for that." Purchasing things was exactly why we had gone into the shop. I only got part of the story and we left the store. If my daughter can't pick up items she wants to buy for her own space, we can shop elsewhere.
My daughter explained more of what happened when we were getting into the car. She said this person told her to put down the items she wanted and then put her finger near my daughter's collarbone on her chest and mumbled something about liking her shirt. Her aunt confirmed. We were backing out of our parking spot when my daughter pointed at someone walking in front of our car and said that was the person who touched her. I got out, approached this person at the side of her vehicle, and asked if what my daughter and her aunt said happened was true. She answered "what" in an aggressive tone at first until I asked if she had in fact laid a finger on my child. She started stammering that she "gets along great with kids in there," confirmed every other detail I was given about her encounter with my child and then said "if" she had touched my child, it was without the intention to-- never mind that she never should have gotten her hand close enough to touch a stranger's child on their torso. Every other bit of what my daughter said happened she confirmed by her own admission, but she got flustered when I asked if she had put her finger on my child.
Now, I don't doubt that children have broken things in the store before-- there is a sign explicitly stating that if a child breaks something, the parents will buy it. Normally, I would have been on the employee's side because I understand children can be a little destructive with all their energy. However, the employee touched my child, who comports herself properly in stores because she enjoys the privilege of going to them with me, and she approached a child, not the adult with her. Those are two red flags that don't sit right with me and probably wouldn't sit right with most parents. I've purchased items from this shop before and was planning to purchase quite a bit of furniture to get my home library finished, but after this and reading other reviews on other platforms, I will not be back. There are more than enough antique and consignment shops to choose from...
Read moreIf I could give a place negative stars I would. DONT SHOP HERE IF YOU WANT TO BE TREATED RESPECTFULLY. The man at the front let my grandmother use the restroom although he said they don’t usually, although we saw two people come out while we were there. He went on to talking about how there is a huge sign on the door. Then a woman comes out and starts yelling at him about letting her use the restroom. It was super uncomfortable. I told them that we would leave after she used the restroom, we didn’t mean to cause a big deal. She then went on to accuse me of malicious intent with their bathroom and how someone else caused $500 worth of damage. She kept calling me a young chippy and telling me how she’s been in this business forever and how we should’ve taken no for an answer. This man never told us no. He then went and checked on my grandmother using the bathroom TWICE. I have never felt more uncomfortable and angered. Who berates someone over something you gave them? The restroom literally requires a key. I wouldn’t want to be a vendor there if this is how unprofessional they speak to their customers. If they have a FB I will be posting the video. That being said Summerville Antique Gallery is much nicer and has been items and is 3 minutes down the road. We frequent the establishment and are always always happy with the...
Read moreDo not rent a space with Simply Vintage. I rented a space and was prorated for the 1st month for 157.00 for March. During March I found out that I was going to have a knee procedure and I live out of town and husband can’t drive due to stroke recovery. I went to the store on March 30th and gave my verbal 30 day notice and Norman said he was sad to see me leave so soon. For April I owed 225.00 for the space and sold 314.?? Of items. I asked Lynn over the phone after removing all of my stuff April the 15th if at the end of the month to take the 225.00 out of my 315.?? and I was told they don’t mail checks. Now what do I do? I told Lynn I would mail her a stamped addressed envelope and on the 5th she could mail me my check minus credit card fees. Well today I got a bill for 150.00 in their envelope for May. Now I emptied out my booth April 15th and left my 175.00 curio cabinet due to not having any help to bring it home. So They kept all my money, my curio cabinet, and stamp and I bet someone rented the space time I moved out. Lesson learned. If you rent from them get a copy of everything because they do not offer it. If I owe 150.00 then they should pay for my curio they are using or sold,...
