It takes a lot for me to write reviews. I tend to only do so when necessary, and a review for this company is ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY! The owner and his son are so incredibly nice! All of the staff is so welcoming and friendly, but have you ever gone somewhere and just felt so welcomed and appreciated while out in public? I sure haven't. But I could never say enough about how wonderful this little spot is! It's welcoming for families, there's entertainment for kids and adults, the owner is so accommodating and beyond frie dly and genuine and I guess I should mention the food and coffee! Yall if you don't come for the experience of a home away from home then COME FOR THE DOUGHNUTS!!!These beautiful, sweet fluffy yeasty pillows of heaven are about as close to perfection as you could ever want! I have never been more addicted to a doughnut in my life and I ain't mad about it! Oh and there is this incredible latte! It's a Cambodian latte, very similar to Vietnamese coffee, but OMG let me tell you! I haven't been drinking caffeine for almost 6 months now, but I will splurge to get one of these! Ther most glorious balance of sweet, robust experience in your mouth is just pure joy!!!! If you haven't been here, come! Get yourself a doughnut, enjoy the atmosphere, play checkers or dinosaurs with your kiddos, enjoy a girl's meetup, look over the local farm, or play cornhole! Come, slow down for a bit and enjoy the most beautiful little hide hole in...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMr. Ratana (he told me twice and I think I still misspelled it) and Ms. Ann have a hidden gem here! Trying to find it was a bit rough as it is in the end unit of a building and is a bit away from the main thorough fare but there's a small sign at the street pointing to it.
Once you walk in you'll be greeted by freshly trimmed plants and a team of people bringing you some of the best doughnuts I've ever had at a price well worth admission.
Three tiers of sweetness: powdered, glazed, and for the sweet tooth having readers, the criss-cross. We got a dozen of mixed varieties and prior to this review, we demolished a chocolate criss-cross, 2 glazed, and a blue (vanilla flavored) frosted with sprinkles.
These doughnuts aren't terribly sweet, were thick and slightly chewy similar to brands found in the NE U.S, and are absolutely delicious. Part of the allure to these glazed and blue frosted is that they are single glazed unlike other places that glaze and glaze to hide mediocre doughnuts. The chocolate criss-cross was admittedly too much for even my strong love for sweetness.
Ms. Ann's story of how they decided on this city and this building are nothing short of inspirational and we look forward to the next time we get to cross paths with this team.
(As an aside since I didn't try them)
I was told the breakfast sandwich, which is why we came here, was delicious and the iced caramel latte was better than dedicated coffee shops such...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreDonutMakes is a new donut shop in the area that opened on Thanksgiving. I was trying to buy donuts for work but every place was unreliably closed near my area, so I drove all the way to Summerville to get DonutMakes' donuts.
At first, I thought it was the little truck and was confused but as I drove around it, I found their actual store in a little corner all the way to the left end of the building.
When I entered I was greeted by the owner, I presume, and one other staff member. The place had the vibe of a little cafe, to which they do serve coffee. I bought 2 dozen donuts for a good price and talked a bit with the owner. He was very nice and also is a veteran. He gave me a glazed donut to try and when I had it, the donut was astounding. Not only was it thick, it was also fluffy like biting into cotton candy but with more bite. The sweetness was not overly sweet and overall, the ensemble was nicely balanced. 5/5 for their glazed donuts. Before I left, I was given a points/rewards card where if you buy a certain amount of donuts (in dozens) they would give you a free coffee.
Overall, I had a great experience here and will come again, if not for the experience, for the donuts because they were the best donuts I've had in...
