I am writing this review with extreme disappointment regarding my recent and past experiences at the Meena Bazaar location in Sunnyvale. I have been a regular customer for some time, hoping to find beautiful ethnic wear, but my interactions with one particular customer service representative, who I believe is known as "Nina or Naina Aunty," have consistently been negative and frankly, quite offensive.
From the moment I enter the store, Nina Aunty seems unwilling to assist. She often preemptively states that my size is unavailable without even bothering to check. Her tone is consistently rude and dismissive. On multiple occasions, she has made comments implying that the store's clothing is outside of my presumed price range, which is not only insulting but also completely unfounded.
Yesterday's experience was the final straw and prompted me to write this review. My mother called the store beforehand to inquire about specific items, and Nina Aunty assured her that we could come. We drove all the way from Hayward to Sunnyvale based on this confirmation. However, upon entering the store, my mother simply touched a suit piece displayed on the counter, and Nina Aunty immediately yelled, "Don't touch! It's not for you." Her aggressive tone was shocking and incredibly hurtful.
After this unpleasant outburst, Nina Aunty proceeded to attend to another customer, completely ignoring us for a significant amount of time. When she finally did get around to showing us some items (only five pieces), she didn't even bother to open them properly. I pointed out that the sizes appeared to be too large, and despite my mother's prior call, Nina Aunty insisted that these were the only sizes available. Her lack of effort and continued rudeness were appalling.
It's disheartening to contrast this behavior with the positive experiences I've had with other customer service representatives at this same Sunnyvale location in the past. They were always pleasant and made a genuine effort to assist. Nina Aunty, however, consistently lacks any semblance of customer service skills and seems to have a personal issue with my family. My cousin and sister have also shared similar negative experiences with her. My mother, who usually tries to overlook such behavior, finally agreed that Nina Aunty is consistently rude to us.
When I inquired about speaking to the store manager, Nina Aunty stated that there is no manager on site. This is concerning in itself. I would very much like to speak to the owner of Meena Bazaar regarding this issue. Nina Aunty's behavior is unacceptable, damaging to the store's reputation, and is actively deterring loyal customers like myself and my family from shopping there. She urgently needs customer service training or perhaps a reassessment of her role within the store.
I sincerely hope that the owner takes this feedback seriously and addresses this issue promptly. My family and I have been patrons of Meena Bazaar with the expectation of finding beautiful clothing and receiving respectful service. Unfortunately, our repeated encounters with Nina Aunty have made the Sunnyvale location a place we now...
Read moreHad a wonderful experience with buying my first Indian dress for an Indian wedding. I walked in on a random weekday and wanted to inquire about some outfits I could wear to a wedding. The owners were very welcoming and took their time helping me. I asked a million questions and wanted to try different pairings and they were extremely patient and helpful!
I ended up trying on about 5 outfits and stayed for over an hour in the store. Never once did I felt rushed or disrespected even though I have zero knowledge of Indian attire. The owner also helped me pin my scarf and packed it nicely and included extra pins for me. They altered the top a bit and was prompt in letting me know when it was ready for pickup. The entire experience was seamless and I appreciated the thorough effort.
Thank you so much Meena Bazaar! I enjoyed wearing my Indian dress to...
Read moreLovely outfits. I even found one that I absolutely loved and wanted to buy; however, after almost halfway done with trying outfits on, someone from the shop told my aunt and mom that I wasn't allowed to try anymore outfits on in order to let other people try on outfits. I was not even 10 minutes into trying outfits on and I felt upset because no one told the people trying on outfits before to hurry up so that I could try mine on. I had waited a fair time waiting, too. I even made sure not to waste time admiring the clothes to hurry up to allow others a turn. When I asked about the outfit I wanted in terms of adjusting to my size, the staff person was preoccupied with other things and didn’t really get the...
