Pekoe — Restaurant in Sunnyvale

3.5 stars overall. The staff are very friendly! Lots of parking in the plaza and plenty of seating inside the store. There's a HUGE screen that displays EDM music videos and lots of unique furniture inside... Definitely gives the place a lounge/club vibe.

PRO TIP: Ask for less/no ice! They put a ton of ice in those cups... Also, ask for less sweet! 50% is usually a safe bet, but go for 25% if you really don't want to get a cavity from here. Their drinks are SWEEEEET.

KEEP IN MIND: the paper menu on the counter does not have all of the drinks that they display on the TV menus... Maybe take a look at their website to see the full menu?

Drinks I have tried:

Pretty in Pink: Their classic and most popular drink! The milk tea is sweet and has a subtle tea flavor. The boba is SO GOOD and sweetened well, so I recommend getting 50% or 25% sugar. This also comes with strawberry jellies, but no heart-shaped ones???

Brass Monkey: This was just okay. Watered down milk tea and the grass jelly isn't very sweet or herbal tasting. The banana flavor was decent, but I wouldn't recommend it.

Thai Tea Whities: This drink beat my expectations! Very fragrant thai tea flavor (a slight matcha flavor?) with a fluffy thick crema on top! Too good to be true. Not to mention, the milk pudding is INCREDIBLE! Milky, not too sweet, and the perfect texture. I would definitely recommend this drink to anyone.

Kawaii: OH MY GOD. This drink is way too sweet. Literal sugar overload! Definitely get this drink 25% sweetness... maybe 0% sweet... The tea in this drink is very subtle, so only order this if you love artificial fruity drinks and don't care for...

Everything was done online which is very helpful. Ordered my drinks and received a text message with a link to track my order also very helpful.

Atmosphere and anesthetics are cool. I picked up my order and this was my first time hearing about this shop. At night its definitely young adult and up vibes, music is pretty loud almost too loud if I can hear the base from outside while I'm in my car.

Upon entering the shop, it's open and spacious with plenty of places to sit with a friend or alone. The lights are a bit dim so it isn't a lit up place but a chill hang out.

I ordered the JMT, TMT and the Emerald. All drinks I ordered had no adjustments and because it's my first time ordering, if I were to order again, I would go 50% on sweetness next time.

I am not a fan of their ice. It's crushed ice and so when you sip your boba, your sipping boba and ice together and I really don't like that. I prefer to just be able to drink and chew my boba without the extra cold bite.

Cup size is a one size for all teas and it's pretty large for a decent price which I truly appreciate. 👍🏽

This place isn't too bad. I have my personal favorite boba shops but if it's after hours, I would most likely come here again in the future, NOT soon though.

Pekoe was a bit of a mixed bag. On the plus side, parking was a breeze – plenty of spots in the lot next to the shop. Even though it's on the main road, it's tucked away in a quiet strip of stores, making it a peaceful pitstop.

Another plus: online ordering! It's super convenient for skipping the line. Unfortunately, when I visited, the store was completely empty, so I can't speak for the in-store experience. The downside is that all the seating is indoors – no outdoor patio to enjoy.

Speaking of the order, I went for the "Pretty in Pink" milk tea with sea salt cream and strawberry chunks. The drink was functionally flawed. The cup overflowed, dripping down the sides. A quick wipe from the staff would have been nice.

The drink itself was a mixed bag. The creamy sea salt cream was delightful, but the milk tea had a strange bitter aftertaste. The strawberry chunks were a bit too chunky for me, but they are customizable, so you can skip them if you prefer. The boba itself was decent, chewy, and flavorful.

Overall, Pekoe Sunnyvale is convenient and has the potential...
