I was initially excited to visit Sea Mist and Grace – the store looked great, the younger staff were friendly, and the prices seemed reasonable. However, I was disappointed when I got home and noticed about a 2-inch area of busted threads on the dress I purchased. I didn’t think to inspect each seam in-store, as the quality at most Surf City boutiques is usually reliable.

When I returned to the store within 24 hours, I spoke with (who I believe was) the owner. Unfortunately, her response was defensive and diverted from addressing the quality issue. At one point, she even implied it was due to sizing, which felt like she was blaming my weight – despite the fact that the dress fit me perfectly. The only offer was a 10% discount on a future purchase (which I won’t be using) and a suggestion to stitch up the dress myself.

It’s disappointing because I was excited to add another boutique to my shopping rotation in Surf City. My advice to others is to inspect every seam carefully before leaving, as there’s a no-refund policy (which wasn’t mentioned on my receipt). Finally, a tanning salon in Surf City! Upon arrival, I was unaware of the need for an appt. Made my appt & was going to head out, but that did not happen. Southern Charm, relaxed environment, charming staff, breezy, tasteful clothing STOPPED me in my tracks! A relaxing & fun hr of trying on a couple of dresses & chatting w/staff in our "Southern Style" norm. I'm thrilled! Sea Mist and Grace is so much more than a great tanning salon! My daughter had her stay tan done in April and she looked FABULOUS! This past weekend some friends and I took a fun class at the adjoining Surf City Social and had a fun time with our girls. After we finished our class we did some shopping over at the boutique and was not disappointed. Some of my favorite boutique style jeans were more affordable than the other places I’ve bought from!
