EDIT TO RESPOND TO OWNER:
I did not need a ginormous explanation as to why the quote was the way it was. I am completely capable of reading and understanding an invoice. This review was not in regards to the quote you gave me and what all that entailed. I understand how far my venue is and how many people would be attending. This review was about how you spoke to a potential customer. I know you gave me the option to come and pick the food up. That was option 2 that you gave me. Option 1 was "come up with more money". Why would I want to work with a company when thats the FIRST option you gave me? You made a conscious effort to type that out in an email and send it to me. The last sentence in this response to my review was an actual apology, after trying to what i can only comprehend as justifying saying that to someone by listing out every single detail of this event and invoice. I also never called your establishment and you never told me it would be difficult to stay within that budget. Again, you could have mentioned the pick up option in your email and left it at that, along with an apology for what you said in this response and left it at that. But decided to give a long winded, unnecessary explanation no one needed. Hopefully this entire interaction didn't go over your head and you actually take into consideration how you speak to people when it comes to money and providing services.
I reached out to this company for a quote to cater my wedding. I provided all the information needed including budget which I was very clear about. They told me they would reach back out in a couple days, never did, so I had to reach out again to check in. No biggie. They responded the next day with a contract that was way over our initial budget. They acknowledged it was over budget due to labor and the FIRST option they gave us to work around it was “come up with more money” …. That is extremely tone deaf especially in this economy. I gave you my budget, you could have told me you were not able to provide the service within my budget or given my the other option that was given and called it done. But you chose to type out in an email “come up with more money” please learn how to speak to your potential customers even if you think they will not afford your service. Word of mouth is huge and it’s disheartening a company would speak to...
Read moreIn all honesty, I don't get food catered too often. Though when I do, it's for corporate training, or office meals for the staff. That's to say that I have some experience in ordering, but certainly not for an event like we recently had.
We recently attended my sons wedding and I offered to assist with the food for the venue. By the time we stepped in, we were a little short on notice for many places.
I have to say that when I first called, Chef Jimmy was very easy to deal with. He was extremely patient with my unending list of questions, I had ideas that I thought were a good idea and he gave me feed back based on his years of experience, of what worked best for him in the past. He wasn't opposed to my ideas, but wanted me to make the best informed decision possible.
In the end of ordering, I was very happy with the selection. He worked with my desire to keep the meat separated from the noodles to work with those with specific dietary needs.
His quote was very well laid out, so I knew exactly what I was getting. He had a timeline, so I knew exactly when it was happening. Not only that, but with his years of experience, he had already worked with our venue before, so they already knew what they were getting into, and how to set it up with as little issue as possible. They even talked with the venue on their own to make sure all the legalities were covered.
The food was laid out perfectly. The dishes and cutlery were very nice. The food was fantastic! We had the Pasta Buffet. The garlic bread was fresh, soft and perfectly seasoned. The Salad was fresh. The flavor of everything was simply amazing. Everyone came to me later and had nothing but rave reviews about the food.
Toward the end, they had two servers that came around and bussed the tables for their plates and silverware. They washed up everything they supplied.
Extremely friendly, very professional, very patient for the uninitiated. The pricing was very fair... considering we were paying for 140 people. Part of me wished I had more events in the area so I could...
Read moreI should have written this months ago, but I'm doing it now. I hired Taste of the Town for my company's Christmas Party at Foss Waterway Seaport in December. I worked with Nick from the very beginning and just have to start by saying how amazing and professional Nick was/is. He is clearly passionate about the business and the comes thru in every interaction I had with him. My party started with a guest list of around 350 and about two weeks before the event, it grew to 600! Nick was quick to make adjustments to the menu, but still mindful of our budget. They were several hundred dollars cheaper than many of the other caterers I've used in the past and just as good quality of food and service, if not BETTER. Day of the event, I was so impressed by his staff. They showed up early, looking professional and genuinely happy to be there. They offered to help us set up our tables / centerpieces and you could tell they were happy to do it. I was so grateful, as we were in a time crunch and one of our other vendors had messed up pretty bad, so I was stressed out dealing with that. By the end of the night, everyone was happy, the food was delicious, the bar was great, the staff incredible. Nick and his dad did such a great job executing our event. They even had another event the same night and you would never have known, as they were so pleasant and professional. I, really, hope we get to use them again in the future. Everyone should. Their prices are very reasonable considering the quality of service and food is so high. They are also a one stop shop, as they have all of your catering needs - tables, chairs, linens, etc. It made the whole event planning process so much easier and less stressful.
Thanks, to everyone at Taste of the Town Catering who helped make this our...
