I’m overjoyed! I’ve had my beautiful wedding ring for nearly 40 years. A few months ago my hand started swelling and my finger hurt so much I asked my husband to cut my ring off. It sat in my drawer for a while before I took it in to have Mike repair it and man, did Mike ever repair it. I dropped it off two days ago and yesterday received a call from Susan saying it was ready to pick up so I drove from Truckee to Tahoe City because I couldn’t wait to get that ring back on my finger and to tell Mike thank you for not having me wait a couple of weeks. I was thrilled and had tears in my eyes. Mike not only added gold to the bottom (the shank) of my ring so I can wear it again but put in a new head and prongs that needed repairing. He buffed my ring and it shines. The diamond shines again. (I hadn’t work done done since 2015 so I was overdue for some help and usually take my rings in every 5-7 years.) I also took in another ring that I wear on my right hand and that finger swelled as well so my husband cut that ring off of my finger too. When the ring was cut off the diamond fell out and we didn’t notice it so it’s somewhere in our garage. Mike used a diamond from my mothers ring that fit perfectly in the new head he placed on top of the ring and when I put it on my right hand it shined beautifully as well. Mike Grant knows exactly what he’s doing and does is so superbly well that I will not take my rings elsewhere but only to him at the Boatworks Mall in Tahoe City. It’s worth the drive no matter where you live in Tahoe and you will be so satisfied and staring at your hand all the way home afterwards. When I told a good friend about my goal of creating a ring, she referred me to her jewelry, Michael Grant, the owner of Steve Schmier’s Jewelry. He and his staff (Mary and Susan) create a friendly, comfortable, and fun atmosphere with excellent customer service. I brought in two rings, of which I wanted specific stones to make a one-of-a-kind custom ring. I explained my vision to Michael, who gave me many creative and insightful ideas for showcasing the stones and creating my unique ring. He wanted to ensure I received exactly what I wanted. Because I struggled to “see” the possible designs, Michael drew options, allowing me to narrow down the choices. Once we agreed on a design, Michael presented me with a wax-mold ring and had me return to his store to understand better how everything would look. At that appointment, he gave additional suggestions to improve the overall look and fit of the ring, which helped me “see” the design. When I went to pick up my ring, it was a bit too large, even though we had custom-sized it. That was not a problem for Michael. He resized it to make the ring sit perfectly on my hand. The final result was more than I could have asked for; it’s a work of art. The ring is absolutely stunning! Michael is creative, knowledgeable, and a perfectionist. This place is utterly fantastic and what makes it so amazing is Mike and Susan!! We had just gotten engaged at Lake Tahoe and the ring was one size too big and we couldn't find any other place that was open so we decided to call Steve Schmier's Jewelry to resize it and they got us in the same day. We came back the next day to pick up the engagement ring and it was still a little too big but they were more than happy to resize it again.
